What weird, stupid, redundant, out dated, silly sports sayings would you like people (announcers, in my case) to stop using?

To kick off, I present, “Score the basketball“. Both stupid and redundant. As if there’s something else one can score with.

I forget who said this, but I heard it first during a sports interview. And I cringe every time I hear someone say it.

Most Definitely......................

Moxie.

Not once have i ever heard someone use this word in a sentence outside of describing a qb.
Good one.

Fun Fact: I watched “Penn &Teller: Fool Us” last week and Penn’s teenage daughter had a guest appearance. Guess what Penn named her?

Crazy, huh?

Or a pimple .. What is Moxie ? An ointment ? Sounds like something for pimples ....
Moxie was a brand of powdered cleanser used to clean pots and pans.
It’s was the first of its kind made at the turn of the last century. I don’t believe they make it any more.

this will not be popular but I hate the overuse/misuse of the term identity and a team not having it

a team may try to establish an identity but if they just suck, it isn't because they don't have an identity

or I guess you could say their identity is "sucking" .......on defense rebounding or offense ball movement

it does apply to things like playing fast, being physical, etc. but again if a team fails in that style the "identity" thing is often stated in that they don't have one.....no, they do, it just sucks and fails

so maybe not weird but overused and used wrong imo, but it's the term de jour for a couple years now

Every athlete....in the post game interview

"First, i wanna give all glory to God"

Yea.....sure you do.......
Yeah...and why don't you ever hear a player on the losing team say "we were doing great until Jesus made me fumble"?

I stole that from a comedian I saw years ago.

When a player gets thrown out of a game and the manager comes running out of the dugout screaming like a mad man and then later claims that he was "protecting his player."

Here's one for the locals: "The standard is the standard".

Which I'm pretty sure the translation is, "Slightly better than average".

I hate the "Let's Go!" as a celebration statement. "Let's go" is something said before a task, not after its completion.
When people say let's go Pitt after a win, I say hold on retards, we already went.

This is more true after the final game of the season. Let's go Pens after they won the Stanley cup already. You already went where you were going, son.
