Emirates FA Cup 4th round. Scoreless at half. This is the replay after the 3–3 draw in Wrexham 1/29. Winner hosts Tottenham in the next round. Wrexham gets through the first half without playing their top side. Announcer says that if this match had been for promotion, only four of their starters would have started. Curious to see what manager Phil Parkinson brings out for the second half. For Wrexham, promotion out of the National League is the goal for the season, but this would be huge, to host Tottenham.

It’s kind of like David versus Goliath, in that Sheffield is approximately 72 teams ahead of Wrexham based on the English football diagram.

ESPN2 and ESPN+ have the game.

Disappointing to give up another goal deep into stoppage time and this time it knocked them out. They played well though even though it was mostly a B team.....and it showed. Some cringy passes/plays that made them look every bit of a 5th Division side. I wonder if someone else should have taken that 2nd penalty since Mullin took the 1st.

How many b and c teamers were playing for Sheffield?

At halftime, I decided to place a bet on Sheffield, and parlay them with Pitt, Virginia, TCU and a few others.

Immediately Sheffield United came out and scored. I was in good shape. Then that penalty happened. Terrible call. The foul was outside the box, but no VAR. Wrexham ties it. Then Wrexham gets another penalty, and frankly that was God awful defending. What was that Sheffield United defender doing?? In any event, Wrexham missed the penalty as things have a way of evening out sometimes. Then SU wins late, Pitt wins, Pitt and the over wins, Virginia wins, …and then Jamie shits the bed again. My $25 bet would have yielded a 3000 return. Ugh. Thanks Jamie.

Wrexham was totally gassed the last 25 minutes of the match. At first, I thought that was strange considering they were mainly using reserves. But, I guess reserves who aren’t really in game shape are more likely to tire out than regulars who are used to playing.

It does show how seriously they are taking being promoted without winning a playoff. They are even with Notts County on points but have two games in hand. How many teams in the National Conference would have rested regulars with a chance to play Tottenham on your own grounds at stake?

I didn't agree with it. I know promotion is the name of the game but if you arent going to start your 1st team, bring them in when its 1-1.
