Our future HC...

Perhaps he is almost a decade away from such an idea but I hope its at least on his bucket list. There is a kid who grew up with PSU all around him, wanted to go D1 even though he was aware his skills were gonna make it real hard at that level, found a niche, loved the program and being a Pitt Panther from what I understand, was a great teammate, absolutely knew he wanted to Coach and worked his tail off learning as much as possible. I hope all goes well for him as he climbs the latter...

Yep he’s still up there I just talked with him via email before the holidays and I’m not positive but I believe he has an uncle or another relative coaching up in the area also.

His dad is a 409 kool-aid drinking nit. Use to get Sandusky to speak to his teams every year.

Wanny did Tim J a favor when Joey said no thanks. .. and pretty much ended up costing him his job not being able to get over the BCS game hump

just curious what does our "bench strength" look like (i.e. Pitt alums in the coaching ranks). We know some of the famous ones, Van Pelt & Tim Lewis in the NFL who probably would never come back to a college gig. Any to potentially keep an eye on as returning to the promised land?

No clue if they are respected or not in the coaching ranks, but these are notable names that are young enough (i.e. Jim Sweeney or Sal Sunseri are not being mentioned) to come back and make a difference.

Nate Byham is at Albany TE and run game coordinator
Eric Thatcher is at Albany Safeties
Mike Shanahan is at James Madison WR/Recruiting Coordinator
Jarred Holley is at North Texas CB
Eric Kasper HC Pine Richland
Mike Bosnic HC Washington

thanks, interesting list and I agree not including the standbys like Sal or Tim Lewis who have been around forever. Hank Poteat was hired by Wisky so he's one to keep an eye on. Doesn't look like we have our version of RichRod yet, an up and coming star waiting in the wings to come back home.

If you're still coaching high school in your mid 40s, you're not going to make it to be a head coach at a P5 school. Nor should you.
