P5, USSF Propose 32-Team Super League + Separating from NCAA

For clarity, Pitt (and every other ACC program that sponsors men’s soccer) would be in this group, as well as every Big Ten program and a handful of others, including WVU.

Definitely would be a wonderful thing for Pitt and college soccer - and might guarantee that Vidovich is here until he retires.

Here’s a map of which schools would be included:

I’ve seen a few soccer fans upset that this comes following a College Cup final of Marshall and Vermont, but it seems as if something like this was inevitable.

Fantastic idea. There is some precedent for this as BYU Men's soccer doesn't play in the NCAA.

What I'd like to see, though, is a limit on International players.

Having Apri/May/June NCAAT-type matches would draw very well. This is probably just a ploy to get the NCAA to allow for MSOC to be an August-May sport.

Yeah, I do feel for the Marshall, Akron, Saint Louis, Vermont, Portland State, Santa Clara sort of programs that have carved out pretty nice programs despite not being in one of the bigger leagues.

I don't. The P5 allowed for that by not caring about soccer

Reading this again, is it just me or does this league not sound like it's actually going to happen anytime soon?
