If you are a member of the DK site, you got to read the article on Pat. It's a fantastic read. Goes from his high school days all the way to the present and what he wants to do in the future.

His ultimate goal is to become an AD, and he'd love to do it for Pitt. 20-30 years from now if he continues on the path he has, he'd be a great one for this university IMO. Still a long ways to go though.

Yea. Great idea. Don't worry about his complete lack of experience. Just give it to him. After all he's a Pitt guy. That should be enough.

what is the point in hiring "experience" when the guy will leave or possibly failed at the job that gave him experience?

the last 2 athletic directors sucked, what does pitt have to lose?

Pat won't get the Pitt AD position unless he gets a graduate degree from another University and / or he works in another athletic department. Pitt calls it in-breeding.
Bring something new to the university expanding Pitt's wealth of knowledge means more than homegrown loyalty.

You can pine away all you like for Bostick but there is exactly a zero percent chance it happens. And no "big" school in the country would hand the keys to the athletic department to someone like Bostick.

I get that in some jobs "you have to start somewhere" but giving someone like Bostick an AD job at this level? That's absurd. He's 20 years from being an AD at a big school unless he turns out to be a prodigy like Theo Epstein was in MLB.

many people want wanny or mark may to be AD

how would they be better?
Some people also wanted Narduzzi, the guy with two years of head coach experience who takes two months to find an offensive coordinator.

Mark May would make a great AD with all his contacts made over the years from his ESPN employment. He has a wealth of knowledge as to the operations of collegiate sports. Football revenue makes the athletic department go and May could open many doors in the NCAA football world. As to other sports Mark could hire a search firm for a basketball coach, an INDEPENDENT SEARCH FIRM.
But Mark May is not moving to Pittsburgh.
