Paterno statues being made in secrecy

Personal attacks don't bother me as I'm looking for a intelligent conversation. The situation at psu could happen anywhere. I'm not here to attack as I'm also a pitt season ticket holder and went to the military bowl. Was at the Cincinnati game lost by the stache. Great game terrible loss. I love college football. So that being said, that was a terrible situation and has been taken care of. So moving on.

The topic is the joebots building a statue & worshiping a person who morally came up short!

This is happening now so how can it be over and time to move on?

We are not talking about you…….geez! The joebots are working in their basements making statues…….you don’t think that is strange?

"dclionsfan, post: 1021135, member: 2254"]I read that years ago. I get what your saying. If you didn't live there and know these men, you have no idea the other side. You know what the media wants you to know.
I can separate the coaching from the behavior, but there is no big bad media only telling us what we need to know.

There is another side as well, and that was Spanier, Curley, Schultz and Paterno did not want anyone to know, and why Penn State University name was shamed, by these men not any Media.

In fact, it was them and others at Penn State that misused the Media to misinform their own Fan Base, to promote myths, slogans, and attack other Universities, Football Programs and Coaches over 40 years by Paterno himself.

Look I'm not going to get in a pissing match as I don't really don't care that much about what you think. My point is I'm not here to judge these men. Let God do that.
No, let the Educational, Justice Departments and PAOAG, Judges, Juries decide it as well, Why reforms, responsibility, and accountability was needed to make sure it does not happen again to protect a Football Program over doing what was right to protect them, re-establish Institutional Control, and reports as required under the law? God was not here to do it, those 4 were and Paterno admitted they should have done more.

We don't care why you came on the Lair, but you will learn here, not follow the Paterno Public Relations of cover ups, secrecy, and ego that ruined that shamed his own name.

There are a few fighting for paterno legacy. The paternos lambrano etc. that's their choice and have that right.
The same for the Parents, Prosecutors, University Trustees, and Victims too, and the Media has the right to report on it too, on the secrecy that caused this tragedy on children that became victims of that University Football Program.

If Lamebrano wants to blame others at Penn State and others, then that is on him, but does not erase what happen at Penn State, and don't come here blaming Pitt Fans?

Pay attention, Slappy. Cultists from psu have always hated Pitt. But we're not a haven for pedophile enablers. Joe knew, for years. And he hid it to save his carefully manufactured image. You all should piss on that statue for the humiliation he brought to your school.
:rolleyes::cool:Spot on!;):rolleyes:

The hate is not as simple as football or rivalry, and it is not just Pitt fans. The hate stems from what your football, school, and fan base represent and it comes from the rest of America. I realize it is not everyone and it is not you personally, but you have heard the saying "one rotten apple?" There are MANY rotten apples there! The representation these rotten apples give is the perception that you are all okay with what went on up there and more concerned how it will affect the football team and paterno's legacy. And those two things are the LAST thing that should be on the mind of anyone up there!
Touché

Point made,

I just don't like the hate and understand it. Is it my age and don't under stand the 80's and the rivalry. Healthy competition is good but I feel there is a lot of comments that are unjust. Any thoughts?

You are right, it could have happened anywhere, but the way it was handled may have been different. The fact is it did NOT happen anywhere else, it happened at penn state. And the way the cultists are reacting is disgusting.

The FACT is that it didn't happen anywhere but Sappy Valley. And it hasn't been finished. The Three Amigos need cell time with Bubba.

Jerry Sandusky could have happened anywhere.............the cover up by the HC on up through to the President of the University could only happen at schools where the HC had unfettered power and had built a false image of the Program as being ethically and morally superior to every other program in the country that he had to protect

Can anyone come up with some analogies for State College? I was thinking the underground humanoids who worshipped the ancient nuke in Beneath the Planet of the Apes or the Children of the Corn but I don't think theyre weird enough.

We're talking about grown adults here praying on his lawn like it's an alter, saying the Freeh Report was like seeing planes fly into the World Trade Center again, thousands hoping a child rapist gets a new trial and acquitted bc they think it'll clear their hero's name...

I can't think of another group of people this weird in history or fiction.

Anyone?

Maybe you weren't around to hear JVP pontificate. Maybe you've never heard Joe tell Pitt's team, during a game, that "(they're) a disgrace to college football" (the audio is available on the internet). Maybe you never heard Joe say that he'd like to play Pitt every year, but he did everything in his power to NOT play Pitt - including doing his best to keep Pitt out of the Big Ten (this, according to Gordon Gee himself) - thus destroying what used to be one of collegiate football's best rivalries. And his failure to blow the whistle on Sandusky in a timely manner is the topper.

So the anger that Pitt fans feel toward "Holy Joe", one of the biggest coaching hypocrites in the history of college football (in a category where there have been plenty of others), is well deserved.

They are on a different level of creepy. How can you root for that disgusting program?

Paterno was a hypocrite ! J. Paterno - “ I am a benevolent dictator "
;):cool:The words "Benevolent Dictator" are an oxymoron and those people don't follow all the rules they expect from others to follow?:confused::( When one lies to himself he will lie to others and sooner forgets where the truth begins and ends, and becomes a mass of gray lines confusing his own gray matter?

Abc27 out of Harrisburg just ran with this story for 30 seconds. Mentioned the two artists for 5 seconds then spent 25 on why the statue was removed in the first place. Glad the local news had perspective here.

Boy you guys sure have a lot of hate for a fan base who doesn't say crap about pitt.

Ever been on Penn St.'s BWI board? That place is filled with condescending ****-talking about Pitt, Ohio. St., Temple, Rutgers -- pretty much every other school.

After the worst scandal in American sports history happened at Penn St., it boggles the rest of the country how so many Penn St. people can still try to peddle the "Success With Honor" bullshit or claim to be victims or that Paterno was a martyr.. The rest of the country is has been shocked and sickened both by the scandal and the reaction of Penn St. fans and alums over the past 4+ years.

Guys, you just don't get the other side of testifying under oath that a sexual assault happened to a minor and doing nothing about it. I don't care what any of you think, but you just don't understand what really happened.

If you want intelligent conversation, then you should actually demonstrate some with actual independent thinking; not your blind worship of the enablers of child rape.

No, the situation at PSU couldn't have happened "anywhere else" because the incestuous insulation, hero worship and cult of personality built around your sick athletics program doesn't exist very many other places in the world. The rancid culture of your university lives on thanks to sick people like yourself that continue to support it without question or thought. People like you make me weep for humanity and I am embarrassed that you are among those in attendance at Heinz.

I can't speak for the whole fan base as I'm sure you can't as well. That being said Sandusky will be judged by his maker as well as paterno was. I try not to judge. All that being said, I personally don't believe joepa purposefully hid a child malestor. Again if he did he was judged, but I really don't think he did. That's all. Don't carry all that hate, you don't need to. It's a game, that's all folks.
It may be just a game to you but is clearly not to many, many PSU football fans !!

Boy you guys sure have a lot of hate for a fan base who doesn't say crap about pitt. I mean they haven't played in years. Who cares. I'm Both a pitt and psu season ticke holder so I follow both. I'm looking forward to the game this fall as a good clean rivalry game.
It would be good to see it extended.

You're already wrong and I'm just getting started. Let's see I believe Sandusky was judge by a jury of his peers. So you my be bias and not judge but the people of Pennsylvania have judged and you still turn a blind eye. Let's see....your say "I personally don't believe JoePa(nickname....you're bias) purposefully hid a child abuser(my word)". Hmmm confession from a dying man.......I wish I would have done more. You're a loser. Go back to BWI

Since you're not disgusted I know for a fact you don't have children. Since you're not disgusted your priorities as a young man are misguided. You have a lot of maturing ahead of you and would do your parents justice by leaving this tread immediately.

There is currently an entertaining yet disgusting thread over on BWI in which the Cult whines and cries about Chicago radio host Dan Bernstein "trying to shame Penn State into denouncing the Paterno statue." Bernstein has been a sharp critic of both Paterno and the Joebots ever since the scandal broke. One of the most interesting parts of Bernstein's recent radio show torching the Joebots was Bernstein's claim that "several people from the Board of Trustees meetings reached out to him and said something to the effect of 'It's everything you think but 10 times worse.'"

Check out the BWI thread. It's a doozy.

Wow amazing days later your still angry.

To me guys it's just a game. Those who are guilty were judged.

What Sandusky did was the most heinous crime ever. There is that what you want.

We are embarrassed by his actions

There are good people at psu just like at pitt.

I've personally moved on and am excited about the game this fall. I'll be wearing my blue and white having beers in the parking lot

The reason there is still so much scorn and ridicule for Penn St. nationally is because so much of the fanbase/alums take the stance that Paterno was a victim who did nothing wrong and was unjustly fired. The rest of the country is always going to view PSU as a "Cult" as long as so much of the fanbase cares only about whitewashing Paterno's legacy.

I do have sympathy for the rational Penn St. fans/alums who have witnessed their university get hijacked by crazies who would gleefully destroy the entire university for the sake of a dead football coach. Unfortunately a moderate Penn Stater is akin to the old joke about trying to find a moderate Iranian.

Michnittlion is a Penn Stater who posts here and is a quality poster. He loved his university, but he is not insane.

DCLIONFAN is representative of PSU alumni and fans. For me, this is why most psu alums and fans are also responsible. In fact, most of these people are of the view that Jo Pa did nothing wrong. Recall that one of PSU's long time Board member stated that Jerry's behavior was well known throughout the psu community since he joined the Board in 1994 and probably well before. For the past 20 years psu football players referred to the victims as "Jerry's girls." Yet Jerry was seen at many psu football practices and games, including bowl games, with the parade of victims. The psu coaches, players and fans snickered the whole time. Jo pa and Spanier made sure that Jerry attended win no 409 (he was given tickets to the psu luxury box) all while everyone knew the indictment was coming soon. Jerry's hug of jo pa after victory 409 says it all. It is an all encompassing and sick culture. The only chance at reformation was a 10 year death penalty. Too bad, whats happened at Tennessee continues to happen at psu.

I think a lot of people who revere Paterno keep it quiet.
Imagine the signs at Gameday if they come to Pitt for the game lol.

I'm sure there are good people at PSU. Unfortunately the vile of your fan base still want a new trial for your former football coach found guilty of 45 of 48 heinous crimes. Why do they want this? Mostly because in their warped minds they think that will make the football coach (who admits to being told that something of a sexual nature occurred between his former assistant and a youngster) somehow come off as somehow more than the despicable person the rest of the country sees him to be.

I personally see their rantings as a good thing. It shines the light on those in the psu fan base who care way more about a football coach they didn't know and never met, instead of caring about the 30 something (at least) victims of these terrible crimes that us decent people concern ourselves with.
