Pattis performance today

Not saying he was the better overall answer either. He probably wasn’t. But he should have been brought in during the GT game for sure (which was lost solely due to terrible QB play) and likely the Louisville and UNC games. Do we win all or any? Don’t know. But we sure as heck know we lost them with Slovis playing every second in them.
One of our posters pointed out that Nick didn’t dress for the Ga Tech game.

Patti didn't dress for the Georgia Tech game.

Am imagining g things or did Cignetti's offense look way better with Patti running it? It didn't look as stale/stagnant.
You're imaging things. The run game was still effective, as expected. The big difference was Patti was able to move around in the pocket. Other than this, a lot of horizontal passes and not much in terms of deep or intermediate routes. Patti averaged just 5.5 yards per attempt.

Yeah, but even injured and in street clothes he would have been way better!

I mean there isn't any actual evidence of that, but he would have been! Just because!
I think the question is not, would Patti have done better, it is, why didn't he get the chance to show what he could do? The offense clearly struggled under Slovis, and yet there never seemed to be any indication that he would be replaced. It is difficult to imagine Slovis, even with all of his game experience, conducting that game-winning drive yesterday. To be fair, it was hard to imagine Patti doing it, either, until he did it.

Patti was 9 for 20 for 4.5? yards per attempt before this game. And now he increased it to 5.1 yards per attempt.

He's a gutsy folk legend now based on the last drive, deservedly so, but I think he spent his time here as a back up for valid reasons.

What does have me excited though is Patti's feet showed what Jurkovec could do next year as a dual threat guy who isn't that accurate but has his moments.

Showed Duzz and Cigs made the wrong pick. Patti was an alpha today while slovis always had the beta male aura.

Nicks only problem is he seems injury prone but the kid showed a ton of heart today

Would love to see him come back
Narduzzi said at the beginning of the season that Slovis was the more accurate passer! And I like Patti, but we all saw his accuracy issues! 20-41 for 244 yds 5.5 avg, 1 TD & 1 Int, passer rating 101.94!

Accuracy doesn't matter when you're getting sacked because you're immobile. I'll take a little less accuracy and more mobility and opportunity to throw.

Or staring down receivers How many times did we see slovis check down to another receiver or scramble to buy time and find another receiver. Patti did that more in one game than slowvis did all year.

I also think based on what we saw this year slowvis accuracy is way over rated. KP was far more accurate than Slowvis.

Again. Pattis feet and ability to buy time could have made the difference in at least one or two games much like it made the difference yesterday I just can’t see Pitt winning that game with Slowvis

Good points ...

I have watched the play countless times.

No, Wayne did not "miss his block," he blocked him perfectly by walling him against the sideline, the DB was completely out of the play, which is why he was in position to have the ball come to him.

Patti did NOT "flung" it, and honestly, at worst it just sailed a bit on him and I am not convinced the defender that was crashing did not tip it.

No one is saying it was a GREAT QB performance, but it absolutely was a darn fine one, even before the final drive. Dude has 73 yards rushing, moved around to make plays, and made the big plays when they were most needed.

We had a lot of good plays in this game ….this honestly was not one of them.

It's why stats need to be taken with a grain of salt. You can't quantify the value of a scramble, avoid sack, and throw ball away by looking at stats. Or the value of important runs. And they certainly don't cover intangibles.

Tino Sunseri had good stats.
