Yeah, but even injured and in street clothes he would have been way better!

You're imaging things. The run game was still effective, as expected. The big difference was Patti was able to move around in the pocket. Other than this, a lot of horizontal passes and not much in terms of deep or intermediate routes. Patti averaged just 5.5 yards per attempt.
Then Yarnell should have been brought in. The Ivy lad. Wayne. Wildcat. That Gt game was the worst Pitt QB play in 30 years.
I think the question is not, would Patti have done better, it is, why didn't he get the chance to show what he could do? The offense clearly struggled under Slovis, and yet there never seemed to be any indication that he would be replaced. It is difficult to imagine Slovis, even with all of his game experience, conducting that game-winning drive yesterday. To be fair, it was hard to imagine Patti doing it, either, until he did it.
Patti was 9 for 20 for 4.5? yards per attempt before this game. And now he increased it to 5.1 yards per attempt.
He's a gutsy folk legend now based on the last drive, deservedly so, but I think he spent his time here as a back up for valid reasons.
What does have me excited though is Patti's feet showed what Jurkovec could do next year as a dual threat guy who isn't that accurate but has his moments.

Narduzzi said at the beginning of the season that Slovis was the more accurate passer! And I like Patti, but we all saw his accuracy issues! 20-41 for 244 yds 5.5 avg, 1 TD & 1 Int, passer rating 101.94!
Accuracy doesn't matter when you're getting sacked because you're immobile. I'll take a little less accuracy and more mobility and opportunity to throw.
Or staring down receivers How many times did we see slovis check down to another receiver or scramble to buy time and find another receiver. Patti did that more in one game than slowvis did all year.
I also think based on what we saw this year slowvis accuracy is way over rated. KP was far more accurate than Slowvis.
Again. Pattis feet and ability to buy time could have made the difference in at least one or two games much like it made the difference yesterday I just can’t see Pitt winning that game with Slowvis
Not only that, not enough credit is given to Patti knowing where the ball should go and if that wasn't there was able to go through progressions.
It's why stats need to be taken with a grain of salt. You can't quantify the value of a scramble, avoid sack, and throw ball away by looking at stats. Or the value of important runs. And they certainly don't cover intangibles.
