Paul Chryst's last game at Pitt: a rare win over Miami

Yeah, Chryst really had his back against the wall. Was 4-6 heading into final 2 against Syracuse and Miami. Strongly looked like he would get shut out of a bowl and finish with a losing season. His seat would have been red hot the next year. Fortunately he faced a pretty bad Syracuse and Miami that had pretty much given up on Al Golden, although he lasted part of the next year.

To his credit, Chryst was able to capitalize on a team that was reeling and beat Miami. Two disappointing losses for Narduzzi was losing to BC when Addazio was on life support and Miami soon after Golden was fired.

Should have beaten Duke and Akron to finish 8-4. Miami had guys dropping like flies that night. Enjoyable win for sure.

Heck GaTech too if not for the fumble-itis. One of the better schedules in years. The toughest OOC game was Iowa at home, a Big 10 team that should have been right up Chryst's alley and not a world beater by any stretch of the imagination.

So yeah, year 3, favorable schedule, Boyd & Conner in their prime, toughest OOC game at home, crossover game against BC, and you still put up a 6-6 season. But he stabilized the program....
