The Panthers' play-calling was dynamic, effective and nearly unrecognizable from last week. Jordan Whitehead made an appearance on offense, rushing for 28 yards to the Penn State 2-yard line to set up a George Aston touchdown. Pitt rushed for 341 yards, led by 117 yards from James Conner and 58 from Quadree Henderson. Last week, Pitt's players combined for 87 yards on the ground. "I think there's a lot more potential there, too," said quarterback Nate Peterman. "We rushed a lot and we threw, too. There's just so much more potential that we have and that we can do. There are so many playmakers out on that field and you can see it." ..............

Few players provide the kind of energy that Quadree Henderson does for Pitt. He led the Panthers with 201 all-purpose yards on Saturday: 58 rushing, 47 receiving and 96 on kick returns. ..............

Last week, Pitt's offense struggled. The Panthers looked out of sync, and the offensive line failed to provide space for the running game. That wasn't a problem against Penn State.
Pitt finished with 341 yards on the ground as the offensive line opened gaping holes all afternoon. ................

The Panthers' defense that looked so impressive last week faltered late. Still, it did enough, finishing the day with four sacks and holding Penn State to 74 yards on the ground. "We have to find out why we couldn't finish it off faster," Narduzzi said. "There are still a lot of things we have to improve. We had some foolish penalties out there, that we should not take. I'll have to see the tape. We're going to be a tough football team, so penalties are going to happen."...............
