Ok, we've had a couple days to lick our wounds and blame everyone under the sun...but not really much to analyze on the last game. Plain ol' butt whipping in every phase. So instead, I'd like to vent about a much smaller issue that gets me in a fuss....

Why does the Port Authority use a Penn State train to take people to and from the Pitt games @ Heinz? And why does Pitt administration sit by and take another backhanded dig like usual?

If you don't know what I am talking about, Penn State has bought sponsorship/advertising of a PAT "T" train whereby the entire train is painted in PSU wording, logos, colors, etc..sort of like a PSU shrink wrap around the train car. Fine, if they have the cash and want to buy some exposure in Western PA, then I guess they can sponsor a car. But why does PAT run this car during Pitt home games? Are they oblivious? Does someone at PAT get a good laugh out of this?

I mean they have plenty of other cars in their fleet that are not the PSU ones, because some of these run during games too, I am sure they could pull this one out of service on Pitt football home days. I am 2-for-2 this year in catching the PSU car home from the games. Nothing epitomizes Pitt football's place in the local landscape more to me than walking out of Heinz from a Pitt football game and seeing a Penn St train waiting on the Heinz platform. I mean I just can't imagine a taxi, uber, or bus in Pitt Script and colors being allowed to pick up at Beaver Stadium after a game.

By the way, tip of the cap to the PSU folks for sponsoring this train. Very well-played troll job and I am sure the PSU folks in charge knew what they were doing. I'm not really mad at PSU for this ....I'm annoyed that Pitt doesn't have enough self-respect to put an end to it.

Oh well, maybe WVU can sponsor the free end-of-game drinks for students next game??

Hah, oh they're literally everywhere. I live in MD outside the DC area and see those "Penn State World Campus" or whatever the hell signs around with the newer, creepy looking lion logo. Work with lots of PSU alums. Fair share of Penn State bars. Saw a "Penn State Night" at the freaking Baltimore Orioles' stadium being promoted, complete with a blue and white Orioles hat giveaway.

Can't escape them. They are, man. They are! (...the worst. Nah, they're not all so bad. Mostly just the internet/twitter trolls and the majority of people from their Rivals board which I avoid)

700K alums. They are a medium-sized city scattered throught the mid-atlantic.

Perhaps the Port Authority placed the ads because PSU's checks clear when they are deposited? After all, the purpose of placing ads is to generate revenue. But, what do I know?

I didn't notice it, and I'm sure I would have. So I don't think it was every train going to the stadium.

Pitt's marketing absolutely sucks, but even if it didn't, you can't keep PSU from buying ad space to fill the roles of their diploma factories.

It was NOT every train going to the stadium...I didn't say that.

In fact that was the point, it was only a couple of them so why do they have to use those couple of trains on Pitt game day out of the large collection they have to choose from.

I was one of the suckers that stayed till the last second of the OK State game, because I always stay to the end, and I can tell you when I got up the steps to the platform there was a Penn St train sitting there door opens filling up with Pitt fans.

I am not suggesting anyone should keep PSU from buying ad space or that PAT shouldn't sell them ad space. Business is business. I am saying when you have two trains completely full-on shrink wrap in Penn St branding....don't send them down the line as soon as the Pitt game ends. Is that too hard to grasp?

And no matter what PSU buys for that ad space, it pales in comparison to the money Pitt pays PAT, so you would think a little courtesy to a strategic partner wouldn't be too much to ask.
