On the perimeter NCS starts Cat Barber along with Rowan and Celeb Martin.

We all know Cat Barber and you gotta see what you can do to stop him from dominating. Dixon has been talking about needing a 'second guard that can defend' and the implication is that the one guard that he has that CAN defend, is James Robinson. But, James' forte is staying with profound 3ball shooters and keeping them from getting off a shot and... Cat Barber is more the take it to the hoop player.

With their other two perimeter starters being 6'7", the guess here is Dixon puts Robinson (6'3") on Barber and sees how well he can do. Probably Smith (6'4") covers Barber when Robinson is not in there. Yeah, there is a danger here in getting into foul trouble.

Otherwise, the two other players they start on the perimeter are both 6'7" 3ball shooters. Their percentages are both around 320 which is not very good but you don't want these players going off on you.

Yeah, NCS' strategy is to have 3ball shooters on the perimeter to take advantage of opposing teams collapsing on Barber. The problem they have is they do not hit at a high percentage.

But, again, you don't want these guys going off on you either. AND, we have a problem with opposing players shooting 3balls right over the top of our defenders.

So, we get to see how well a job Artis (6'7"), Jones (6'6"), Wilson (6'5"), Johnson (6'8") and Smith (6'4") do at not letting these guys get open shots and not letting them shoot right over them.

Yeah... would be a really good time to play solid D on this for 40 minutes.

We can always hope.

Put Whitehead on him. We should attack him on offense, maybe get some fouls......at least make him work.

Play zone....or put Jordan Whitehead on him. I'd also try to go at him on defense....maybe get a foul or two, early, and at least tire him a bit. We have depth, they don't.

Zone is usually better against penetrators, because you usually have two guys on the player with the ball, but is poor against a team with 3ball shooters, because they will get more open shots.

So, against NCS, it is six of one half a dozen of the other.

With man, there is the whole thing with the high ball screens so you have to have your bigs hedge correctly and your guards have gotta stay away from getting caught up with the bigs that are screening and get back on their man as fast as possible.

We are better sticking with the man because that is what we normally play.

I would have Robinson cover Rowan, Artis cover Martin and Smith/Jones cover Barber. Robinson can't get in foul trouble guarding Barber and nobody is going to stop Barber. Let him get his and stop everyone else.

Since Rowan only stands at the 3 point line and rarely moves I would think that he would be guarded by Artis to keep him out of foul trouble and then by Cam Johnson who may see more minutes. However, Artis seems to have a tendency to try to help inside and leaves his man open to shoot a 3. Caleb Martin is much more active than Rowan, but I don't know much about his offensive game.
