Players are learning different positions to allow for movement of players to get the best 11 on the field in case of injury. Whitehead appeared to be one the guys getting a taste at another position, but it now seems like he may very well be moved to the free safety position permanently. This couldn't have happened until this year, because we didn't have anyone to fill his role at the boundary position.

Who will take the boundary spot? Paris Ford will be the first thought for many, and that may well be the case. But don't count out Phil Campbell.

When Whitehead was interviewed the other day about the possible position switch, he was asked about the younger guys who might play the boundary. He talked about Campbell, Garner, and Stocker...in that order. I found it significant that he mentioned Campbell first. When asked "Why Campbell?" he smiled and said he hits really hard.

I've been really high on this kid since the first time I saw his HS highlight film, so I'm not surprised. The idea that 'everyone looks good on film' may be somewhat true; some guys look way better than others on film, and I've got to say, Campbell looks really special on film.

Don't take my word word -- give yourself a treat and go watch this kid on hudl. You won't see him much in coverage, but you will see him playing the boundary safety role, and a guy who is ridiculously explosive, who reads plays very well, absolutely flies to ball, and crushes people, play after play after play. He is the perfect boundary safety.

Campbell is one of the young guns I am looking forward to seeing. But he is not the only one.

I think Paris Ford is going to get a strong look at Corner. His body type mixed w/ his speed is the classic Coach Duzz blueprint for what he likes in a corner.
Once again this is all about getting the absolute best 11 football / athlete's out on the field. Don't get me wrong Paris will run his share of both Safety positions bue me in the least if he saw some Corner action.

H2 PITT !!!
p.s. his long reach, height & passion for being physical are ideal for todays corners taking on all those big strong WR's.

Honest to goodness. I was impressed by Campbells tape more than any other player in the class. I'm excited to see what he can do.

I like that idea for '17 with Ford at CB better than him at SS. I believe, with zero proof or evidence of course, that he is a FS in the long term, meaning once Whitehead leaves. But I believe, like most of you do, you need to get that talent on field quickly. I believe he needs to be in some sort of nickel package from day one and of course given a legit shot to be a CB on this team..

Campbell, miller and briggs can "man" the boundary safety spot IMO.

Phil Campbell was a 1st Team All State Safety in New Jersey. I'm pretty sure he's one of the guys that James Franklin made a late pitch for. I've always liked his film. The kid can play.

They aren't built the same, Campbell is taller, but I thought he looked a LOT like Khaleke Hudson in his physicality and hitting. Hudson looked like he was going to kill someone, Campbell looked like that, too.

I think all of the maneuvering right now sets up for Ford (FS) and Campbell (SS) to be the starters in 2018.

I was impressed with Coleman also. IMO he was kinda ignored on this board due to local DB recuits.... Hamlin, Coleman, and Garner. If he were a WPIAL or Western PA recruit, my guess is
posters would have been all over him as they were for the other mentioned three DB's.
