Do whatever you gotta do to get kids here. Verbally trash other schools, their coaches etc. Pay the kids their asking price whatever. Alabama moved the qb’s entire famiy from Hawaii to Alabama....that’s a program who cares.

Well you know PG Mike White will run with this. Every school does it including ND

How about all the coaches that negatively recruit against Pitt? In the true interpretation of negative recruiting, all schools do it.

Mike's too busy consulting with college coaches on which high school players are going to be successful in college to write his dribble. At least, that's what I read here this week...

Don't give one iota about what this kid said about Pitt. He was never coming here, didn't even really give us a chance. Him and daddy watched ND games together since he was a little boy. I hope he gets a good degree, but I hate ND football, so I really don't give a damn about him or what he says about Pitt. Hope he never gets them to the CFP. Hell, I would rather him go anywhere other than that school which is desperately hanging on to the little tradition they have left. The good news is, most kids are no longer sitting on couches on Saturday, watching ND and dreaming of playing for Kelly and that washed up outfit.

No, that is a program which is willing to spend obscene amounts of money to win football games, and does NOT care.

Oh well, I guess that means he will not be transferring here after his sophomore year. Yawn. Pass the pretzels, Cliffy.

These guys generally don't look depth charts and care about future recruiting because they all think they are the guy and they need to think that way to get this level.

I wonder if they skipped out on CCD like I did to watch ND Football Highlights on Sunday Mornings with Lindsay Nelson. We move to further action on the same series of downs.......

At the 2:10 mark of this video they ask Phil who did the most negative recruiting and he says Pitt. Can't say we didn't try ! I wonder if Duzz told him that Brian Kelly killed a kid or that Brian Kelly redface screams at his Qbs and yanks them in and out of the lineup. Technically that might be negative recruiting, or it could just be called telling the truth.

good! The Franklin crew are the only ones that openly complain about negative recruiting.

We better figure out how to sell Pitt to recruits, negative is part of it, but we better sell the postives on something , Duzz seems to be flailing in the wind here lately

It's not a good look regardless if we support negative recruiting or not. This isn't the first time Narduzzi has been accused of it either. In a way it feels like Narduzzi is getting desperate on the recruiting trail.

I'm hoping for some homer recruiters to fill out the vacancies on staff.

Do you have any specifics to back your claim up? I ask, because the only negative I've heard has been from PSU fans, and I don't believe anything from the cult.

So, do share.

We could use some desperation in recruiting

He's a good kid. Committed early with no surprises, no drama, no stringing anyone along. Can't say I'll root for him on the field, but I won't root against him - unless he's playing Pitt.

Will there be a Jurkovec - Pickett showdown this October, or will we need to wait until October 2020.

Everyone negative recruits.

If he blows a knee or whatever in college, he will be passed over. Hometown kids at the hometown schools get every chance to obtain success.
Have him talk with Foster who may or may not make it in the pros. Crazy things happen and then when for some reason it doesn’t work out and you say negative things about the hometown school, see the closed doors when trying to find work in your field back at home.

IMO, there is nothing wrong with negative (or positive, for that matter) recruiting as long as it is realistic and basically truthful and not totally fabricated and false. The problem occurs when a recruit and family are fed lies and BS. Hopefully Narduzzi isn't in to the latter type.

As I posted in another thread. I am sure the Pitt coaches told him something of the order that, Guns don't kill people, Brian Kelly kills people. Just kidding.

I am sure they said, "you can go to ND and be just another guy. Another 4/5 star recruit competing with other 4/5 star recruits that they bring in every year, from all over the country. Just another guy. At Pitt, you would be a local hero. You would be the focus of the team, here you would be more than just another guy. You mean more to Pitt than ND." I am sure they said something like that.

Is that really negative recruiting? Isn't that selling the opportunity here? How it differentiates from Notre Dame? And isn't it 100% true??

Even the great Reverend Dabo Swinney negative recruits. He actually said Urban Meyer was retiring soon to a recruit, which is not only negative but also probably a flat out lie. Hopefully we can land Phil's pr teammate Kristofic. He is a big time recruit and both his parents attended Pitt AND his HS coach went to Pitt. Should be a layup.

Or he could be the next Ian Book, a 3 star kid with a mostly mid-major offer sheet who will very likely be ND's starting QB this year.

The truth is negative recruiting, or negative sales, or negative campaigning, is tricky business. If someone feels that your best sales pitch is to badmouth the competition, it usually doesn't work out very well.

I would imagine he was told that Kelly would be fired or leave by the time Jurkovec made it through his 4/5 years - at least that's the route I would take with a kid committed to ND.

In all honesty, it would've been best to stop recruiting him all together after he committed to ND. This kid was never going anywhere besides South Bend, no matter if there was coaching change or not.

Once he signed with ND, we shouldn't care what he says. Personally I think he should keep his mouth shut, doesn't show smarts and being a leader. That is a question that I am sure is asked a lot, but not everyone answers.

I don't wish him ill will, but I hope the hell we can beat those smug fighting Kellys whether he is the QB or not.

He was talking about after the 4-8 season so Pitt was probably telling him that Kelley was on the hot seat and possibly wouldn't be there long. Normal recruiting talk. Being the local team Pitt was probably staying on him longer and harder than other teams at that point.

For the life of me, and this is not specific to Jurkovich, I can't understand how these kids would want to play for Brian Kelly. I have said that about 30 times on this board but he seems like one of the most unlikable human beings in the world.

I get the Notre Dame draw to some kids but man is he a jack ass. I could never imagine playing for that guy.

You are 100% correct. Their HC played at Pitt. I am sure Pitt didn’t do anything out of the ordinary.

He is not going to Pitt so I have no interest in a high school kids comments.

Go to ND and lets see if you are good enough to be a future NFL QB as the past 2 Pitt QB
have attained.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!
