my point is people talk about not wanting to play for a coach based on their likability, yet there is nothing likable about saban and that includes before he ever won a title

Saban can turn on the charm when he needs to. It is well known that he has a "karaoke night" for recruits parents where he sings.
Saban would not be able to be that high strung all of the time. He’s probably a lot of fun during the offseason.

How bad would it hurt people's feelings if they found out Saban is a fairly clean recruiter?

Hey buddy, you asked for specifics behind my statement that Narduzzi has been accused of negative recruiting twice. I provided a basis for two separate occasions - PSU's coaching staff and now WPIAL QB recruit Phil Jurkovec.

This has nothing to do with Mike White. It's about your idiotic thought that a college coach should be taking advice from a high school sports reporter. Tell that to any college coach and a honest reaction would be to laugh at you.

Actually, yes - yes you are and badby is 100% correct. Yes, it is true that most guys thing they are better - most competitors do, HOWEVER - and its been printed time and again with quotes from kids that SPECIFICALLY say they are looking at the depth chart and have schools listed because of that - they think they can play early. Hell, there are kids that decommit just because they recruited more kids at their position. You are dead wrong on this one.
James Franklin will cry about anything he can think of so that's really a non issue. He cried about other big ten schools recruiting negatively towards psu so it wasn't just Pitt. As for jurkovec, somebody asked him a question. Was he supposed to lie to keep the hometown school's fans happy? Seriously if narduzzi was never accused of this people would be bitching saying he needs to use negative recruiting like every other school. Let me know when Pitt gets put on probation because the NCAA decides to take away freedom of speech.
For the last 2 years we have been hearing that Jurko is great kid. No question that he is a high potential recruit coveted by Pitt. To be perfectly clear, he never stated that Coach Narduzzi personally used negative recruiting tactics. Apparently, he just implicated the entire University. Someone probably mentioned to him that Notre Dame is of French Origin, not Irish, and this threatened his TJ reverie.
It would seem that a classy, great kid who is being offered a scholarship worth about a hundred grand, and many additional benefits, especially from his home town university, would refrain from bad mouthing locals offering gifts.
Excepting some very egregious behavior from those recruiters, an intelligent kid would say things like: "Yeah, I heard some negative things" or "It's all a part of the recruiting business".
But of course, the opposite is de rigueur for prima donnas.

A very very very small minority might be concerned with the depth chart while being recruited but most don't. That is why the majority of 4&5 stars go to the same schools. The #1 Qb in the country went to Georgia and they have last years #1 Qb starting in the title game as a true freshman. IF players are so concerned with depth chart, how do you explain OSU getting 20 4/5 stars and Pitt getting 0? They would see a lot more opportunity to play early at Pitt.
This is why negative recruiting tactics aren't an effective strategy. He clearly used that question as an opportunity to take a little jab at Pitt. It seemed like he had some ill will towards the staff. Which it is understandable if they were constantly bad mouthing the school and coach he committed to. I hope this feeling doesn't trickle down to Kristofic. We need to be building these Wpial pipelines, not poisoning the wells.
I call BS on this... we are all sour (me included) that that hometown STUD went somewhere else. Hopefully kid has a great career and loses to PITT might end up realizing the quality here at PITT. Absolutely would take this kid as a transfer...anyone saying otherwise isn't trying to win games. Two words "home sick" and he would be forgiven.

like i said mike white seems to be right all the time and i laugh at many of the things these college coaches do, them laughing at me would be ... laughable
