Pickett won't be complacent since I truly believe he wants out of Pitt after 2 more seasons. No room for complacency if he wants to enter the NFL draft after his Junior year.QB, like any other position, needs to have strong competition. I do not want Pickett to be complacent next year. I want him to come in with a chip on his shoulder like he needs to prove he is the #1 guy. I also want the JC to come in with the same attitude. If he looks better then Pickett, then he should start. If not, he should back up.
I just hope we have the WRs in place that can get open and catch!
Patti's gotta redshirt. Period. We gotta start stockpiling QB's the way that other good teams do.Should be positive competition between Pickett, Patti and Town
Is the first salvo in the upcoming Pickett vs Town fan battle? How bout we pull for both guys to be the best they can be and let the best play without setting one up against the other right away. We are fortunate that it appears we won't have to be left in the lurch if Pickett goes down. That's good enough for me.Not a bad backup, though.
Town didn't have too many legitimate options with a Power 5 TEAM. Picket is our future at QB and will likely be a four year starter (not leaving after third year).

I don't like JC transfers on the PITT team. That is a sure sign that we failed in the recruiting process.
So you suggest we don't take JUCOs, leaving us with gaps created by failed recruiting?I don't like JC transfers on the PITT team. That is a sure sign that we failed in the recruiting process.
You realize you have pickett declaring early for the draft after less than 6 quarters of actual play.
Can we at least see what be does over a 12 game season before anointing him the next NFL QB from Pitt?
My point was simply IMO Pickett has a goal to get to the NFL asap. Coming to Pitt in January of this year suggest to me at least that he's in a hurry to move up the latter after enduring only 3 1/2 years of high school. For what it's worth I believe he has as good a chance to do so over the next two seasons at Pitt. You realize you have pickett declaring early for the draft after less than 6 quarters of actual play.

If Pickett doesn't win a Super Bowl do you think it will hurt his chances to be enshrined in Canton?
Why?It is a bad choice. Town shouldn't even be signed to back up pitckett.
I stated why in my answer to another post about town but happtto share again if you didn't read it.
Bad qb recruiting is why we struggle to move up a level.
I replied more in depth to post JC qb town. Why?

I don't think their styles are that different. Sure Town might not be quite as elusive, but he can move in the pocket. He has an arm. Locksley is more of an athlete than Pickett, but isn't a very good passer. Neither is a great option. I certainly would rather have Town, but I don't expect either to ever start at Pitt. Both are probably better options in the longterm than DiNucci, but I wish we could have held on to DiNucci for one more year.I replied more in depth to post JC qb town.
But basically it goes two different styles of play between starter (Pickett-dual threat) and back up (towns-pro style)) leads to confusion and issues.
Which is why there were problems this year with the transitions between Browne -dinuccu and not dinucci-pickett. The former two different styles the later the same.
It's just Pickett was much better than dinucci and for whatever reason didn't get his opportunity to show it until late.
It just makes sense to use the same style and system.
Prime example: the naval academy.
