Duke comes out up 10-0 and goes for the juggler w/ the onside kick. It failed, but Duke D looks tough vs what I thought was a very good Indiana offense.

Cutcliff is an excellent coach too!

Cutcliff is very good. Surprised he wasn't on more shortlists during the coaching Carosal this year. Duke, if they can keep the types of kids they are bringing in this year will be very good down the line.

I checked Twitter for some crowd pics and it looks like there's 10k there. I'm not really sure how to paste a screenshot on here from my phone

Lots of empty seats at most bowls. Attendance has been down across the country the past few years. To quote one of my favorite movies, oh brother where art thou, "We got this depression on."

Duke getting hosed by the refs and announcers pro Indiana. Just like last year when BC got jobbed.

Right, but it gets held against Pitt while other schools get a pass.

LMAO. Rece Davis, Kanell and Galloway are "Pro-Indiana announcers". We have "Anti-Duke refs". And I thought I'd seen it all on this board.

Sorry, but I think Cutcliff is a solid coach who is one of these guys who thinks he gets extra points for being clever. Onside kick when you're up 10-0...unnecessary and gives momentum back to Indiana. Razzle dazzle plays when your offense is moving only to get picked. Doesn't take the points on 4th and 1 from the 20 with the score tied with 6 minutes to go...and fails to make the first.

Duke may yet win this game, but Cutcliff's decision making has not been helping.

Cruzer

The juggler? What did he/she ever do to anyone? I can see going after the clowns - they're creepy. But leave the juggler alone.

Give the ending of that game, do you still think the officials were hosing Duke?

If I was an IU fan I would be tearing my hair out right now

If we played in that game and 25k showed up we'd literally never hear the end of it. That's why I was curious about the attendance.

They righted the ship finally....if u couldn't see bias towards Indiana then your a moron cause sitting here in Annapolis with a group sure heard and saw it. You coming to the bowl badby?

Was pulling for Duke. Glad the field goal at the end was called no good. But IU got hosed. That looked good to me.

The angle from under the goalpost is misleading, because it isn't directly under the left upright. The angle from behind the goalpost was pretty clear that it was no good, I thought.

In any case, the only camera angle that would work would be from directly under the left upright... and that's where the ref was standing, so I'd say he probably got it right.

Unfortunately for the ACC that was their 6th best team beating the Big 10's 10th best team on a missed overtime fg. Not exactly something we should beat our chests about

Nobody is beating their chests. Last I checked a team from the Big10 won the national title last year. But year in and year out from top to bottom--that conference just doesn't impress.

And speaking of chest beating...this wasn't the same IU team that played PSU. THIS IU team really isn't the #10 team in the Big 10.

I agree it wasn't the Indiana team that played Penn State and not the Duke team that played Pitt. Both teams had their starting qb's
Indiana also had their starting RB today - who they didn't have against PSU.

Also... Indiana played *AT* PSU. Duke *HOSTED* Pitt.

You're not doing a good job of masking your identity, mikemauti42. You make all the same arguments, with the exact same grammatical tics, almost word for word.

We know who you are.

Last year you beat your chest over beating a bad BC team in the Pinstripe Bowl because of a missed extra-point by BC.

Duke is only ranked below Miami, Louisville, and NC State by a blown call the refs admitted. Don't care about Penn State or any of the peds. You are obsessed

Still .... Indiana was Big Ten #8, not #10.

And you beat your chest, nitter, last year when PSU beat a bad BC team because of a missed PAT.

And Indiana is only a play or two away from beating tOSU, Michigan and Iowa this year. Not sure why you are defending the Big 10. But I named three of the top 4 teams in that league...and they had as much difficulty with IU as Duke did. Maybe Duke is the #6 team in the ACC...but maybe they would have been top 5 in the Big 10.

Maybe, who knows. Not sure why you two get so up in arms about it. I was simply pointing out Indiana losing a game to Duke in OT does not look bad for that conference. I can't see where I'm wrong there

Glad Barnes got Pitt in Military Bowl, better choice against Navy over Indiana!

David Cutcliffe pure class as Coach, another Great bear Bryant's Coaching By-Product from Alabama!

He was saying nothing but great things about his Team, Seniors, and Indiana at the end of the game, and won Duke's first Bowl Game since 1960s! A Top 25 Class in Recruiting too!

Now you know why he wrote to Pitt's Conner, what a Coach, Gentlemen, and Man!

I can't speak for anyone else but I can assure I am not up in arms. I barely get up in arms regarding my own teams, let alone two other teams playing in a Pinstripe Bowl. It's just odd that you come to the aid of others on this board. And I can assure you that a Duke win vs Indiana, regardless of how the game played out, looks bad for the conference.

They invited IUD. They invited the Duke football team, not men's hoops. They now have enough fans for a decent pick up game.

We are so lucky that they passed us up. Looking back, that may be one of the best things to happen to Pitt football in long time. The date sucked and the opponent sucked. We would not have sold many tickets and that would have added to our reputation. Now, we can say if its not Dec 26 or in El Paso and the opponent is respectable, our fans will travel. The Pinstripe is now in play for us when the date and opponent are better. Still cant believe they picked Duke over Miami.

Pitt will have a very good turnout. Yes it is within a days drive and certainly the buzz is higher due to last weeks recruiting. Narduzzi is in this to win and get a 9 win season. A win helps solidify recruiting and set the tempo for the off season workouts. Better day and better drive are big factors. It is clear many of these before Christmas day bowls are almost not watchable. Over exposure is hurting college football and the rationale for these bowls are not very compelling.

Does Mauti play other than special teams? As bad as the Saints are, I would think he'd have a decent shot if he's any good.

You mean like last year?

No. I don't mean like last year. Last year was not a typical year.

Actually I am glad you brought up last year. It was a banner year for the B1G! They went 6-5. Congrats to them!

You know what would be fun? Since you mentioned last year...let's look at every year. I am going to to take a closer look starting with my next post.

2009 4-3
Congrats to them. Another fabulous year.
