He and Bednar will be a good duo for when we have a lead after seven.
... just not sure what we're going to do the other 145 games.
Gave him 10mil, has the feel of another move to follow. Maybe they'll trade Bednar now. The rest of the staff just doesn't justify having this kind of closing combo.
Sure didn't see this one coming.
More like out of the bullpen.Yeah, that came straight out of left field.

They wont trade Bednar now.
This is a great move. Probable result will be Chapman has a good season, and gets traded at the deadline for decent prospects. Signing good relievers and dealing them at the trade deadline has been a good tactic. The few times we held on to them and didnt trade them we got more hurt (like the guy who was a pedophile). This is a win-win unless Chapman gets hurt, which could certainly happen
Typical Pittsburgh Pirates move. Bring in a aging former star player who is in his middle to late 30's. Chapman will do well here, they will trade him before the years over and then try to claim him as their own when h is career is done. They did this with players like Kris Benson, Sean Rodriquez, Francisco Cervelli and the like. How about trying something new, like bring in a legit MLB star who is in their prime? Do you think that might help stir some fan interest in the organization? Until then, the Pirates will continue to struggle while they bring in stars from the past. Who's next, Mark Melancon?Sure didn't see this one coming.

Huh? Lol. I don't think Pudge ever played here, and they drafted Kris Benson.

You are correct on the Ivan Rodriquez portion and I will correct that, I meant Sean Rodriquez but the autocomplete did that for me. Benson is just an error on my part. The overall point of my post remains the same though.Huh? Lol. I don't think Pudge ever played here, and they drafted Kris Benson.
Let him go, he's having his Germans bombed Pearl Harbor moment.

One of his biggest contributions - pure entertainmentThinking Sean Rodriguez fits that category might be even worse.
First of all, he wasn't in his mid to late 30s when the Pirates got him, he was 29 (although he did turn 30 early his first season here). Secondly, his best season before he got to Pittsburgh was probably 2010, when he slashed .251/.308/.397 with 9 home runs in 378 plate appearances. The following season was the one where he played the most, 436 plate appearances, with a line of .223/.323/.357 with 8 home runs.
Neither of those is actually any good. Rodriguez was never a star. He was never close to a star. By far the best year of his career was actually his second season he spent in Pittsburgh. And even then he only got 342 plate appearances, with a line of .270/.349/.510 with by far a career high of 18 home runs.
Glad he hit the water jug because he sure couldn't hit a baseball. One of his biggest contributions - pure entertainment
Autocomplete changed Sean to Pudge? What keyboard are you using? You are correct on the Ivan Rodriquez portion and I will correct that, I meant Sean Rodriquez but the autocomplete did that for me. Benson is just an error on my part. The overall point of my post remains the same though.
