What to say except the obvious! Fantastic win!
Not a single Pitt guy cared about rankings. Every slot in the line up went after it and competed hard. The match had a lot of quality wrestling from both sides and was fun to watch.
Lets get Gavin and Co some recruits and RTC athletes and enjoy what's coming.

Incredible comeback, winning the last four matches. Huge wins by Harvey, Nino, Stout and Meech.
No wrestler on the team has changed/improved as much as Stout in one year. Last season he would get behind and just give up. Not this year. He was down in the 3rd, got an escape and a takedown, and would not let their wrestler escape to tie the match.
I have never seen a team lose three penalty points for hands to the face like N.C. State did — and two of them were the decisive points. But, that must be the way they are taught to wrestle, because pretty much their whole team did it.

Even though Stout didn’t win matches last year, he was in almost all of them. He’s finding a way to win this year instead of a way to lose. He’s always been good in the room and has a lot of talent. Congrats to him for putting it together

Gavin having big impact with him. Most improved wrestle so far this season.
The team wrestles hard and that’s a sign of good coaching. Gavin and his staff are moving this program in the right direction. Continue to build the training center and get better guys in the room. Elite wrestling comes down to recruiting and getting quality in training partners in the room. Very happy with what Gavin is doing. Hats off to Heather, who continues to put her magic touch on the athletic programs. Impressive.
I'm confused.
I remember posters on here saying that Heather botched the head coach hiring and that she was over her head as an AD at the Power 5 level. Some went as far as stopping or lowering their donations in protest.
So which is it?
I’m not sure who said they would stop donations? Think some, myself included where skeptical with HL with the Santoro situation and losing out on two experienced HC in Bono and Flynn. Gavin had pedigree just not experience which gave some an uneasy feeling after missing targets. Think that’s pretty normal among folks that follow the sport and have high expectations for Pitt wrestling. Many moved forward after hire. Thrilled with Keith Gavin who has translated his ability to HC position. Hired really good staff and build the training center. As far as HL, she is producing both with wrestling and basketball hires. Going forward she will be judged on performance with Football and Basketball and Olympic sports. So far so good.
I do remember a couple people being upset about the Santoro thing for sure which was fair at the time. But I think most people who actually follow wrestling liked the Gavin hire as I remember but my memory isnt the greatest lol
I was one of the doubters. We were upset about the losing of Santoro, not the hiring of Gavin.
Santoro was the NWCA National Coach of the Year last year. Pitt fans are supposed to be idiots because we wanted him? Riiiight.
No one ever said Keith couldn't be a great hire. I said at the time, the hope is you get a younger version of Pat. Time will tell, but I think everyone is happy with the way we're wrestling. If we ever get our facilities where they need to be watch out.
I saw Coach Gavin at a Pitt Football Game coming down a ramp. I congratulated him on being named Pitt Wrestling Coach and we talked for about five minutes. Class Act, Mr. Gavin is.
