A major one. Still ranked. A good sign. WF 10, NCSt 18, PSU unranked.
Hopefully. Most of the teams behind us either didn’t play or lost too. A lot of ranked teams lost yesterday. Is it fair to expect then that they’re still ranked in the AP Poll then, since they were ranked higher there than the Coaches Poll yet are still ranked in the C.P. ?
If Pitt is 10-2 and wins ACC, they have a decent shot at top 10. That would be great...or maybe a pipe dream. But one can have hopeHopefully. Most of the teams behind us either didn’t play or lost too. A lot of ranked teams lost yesterday.
I know it’s not particularly meaningful— but staying ranked is important to me— gives them a chance at a top 20 finish and not fighting the rest of the season just to get back in the top 25.
Virtually no chance of that with the strength of schedule/quality of wins and losses. If Pitt is 10-2 and wins ACC, they have a decent shot at top 10. That would be great...or maybe a pipe dream. But one can have hope
Have to win out w ACC champs and bowl win to sniff top 10 I would think.Virtually no chance of that with the strength of schedule/quality of wins and losses.

The rankings are finalized before the bowl games. I don’t think an ACC champ win over whoever the Atlantic Div Champ is would be enough to make it happen.Have to win out w ACC champs and bowl win to sniff top 10 I would think.
But who knows- a lot of teams outside the top 7 or so keep losing .
Forgive my ignorance, but how does giving up 3 straight TDs on 3 straight possessions in the first quarter and never having a lead over a 9 point underdog opponent at home translate to playing a “very good game overall”? Not to mention failing to get in the end zone on 3 plays from the Miami 5 while trailing in the 4th quarter, and giving up significantly more yardage to Miami than any Div. 1 team they’ve played this season? And turning the ball over twice leading to what amounted to a 14 point swing in Miami’s favor?Thats great. It was clear we played a very good game overall. Good to see the coaches feel the same, especially with Duke next up which should be a win

Hahaha. 5-3 teams with 3 straight losses including at home to Illinois clearly means a top 25 team...Uh oh, this board ain’t gonna be happy. Pitt drops out of the AP Poll and Penn State stays at 22.
Funny thing is, I dont think Penn State would beat Miami with their new QB right now either. But whatever.Uh oh, this board ain’t gonna be happy. Pitt drops out of the AP Poll and Penn State stays at 22.
I don’t know how that game would unfold, but that Van Dyme is a heckuva quarterback. The “U” might be set for some success the next few years with him back there.Funny thing is, I dont think Penn State would beat Miami with their new QB right now either. But whatever.

I think the u is going to win out, they have things clicking now. Which means we now need to win out to win the Coastal.
Pitt really seems to have lucked out with the Virginia QB getting hurt. The defense stinks
Isnt that what people were expecting from Narduzzi when he came to Pitt? It’s crazy the team UVA thought they were getting under Bronco vs what they got.
Everybody was expecting a team that just bullied you with the ground game and hit you in the mouth on defense.
They really have never come close to that. Defense basically sucks every year, and the offense is a passing attack that has been completely reliant on QB scrambles for any kind of running game.
There is more of a chance of that occurring then what you think. Right now, they are ranked #25. With a win against Duke this week, they should move up a couple of spots, say to #22. The following week, they play UNC. A win that week, should again gain them a couple of spots up the poll, say to #18. The next week, they play Virginia. That game should draw some attention since both teams should be in contention for the ACC Coastal title. A win there, and Pitt moves into the Top 15. Then they play Syracuse the last game of the year and hopefully with a win that locks up the ACC Coastal title. They more then likely move up a couple more spots, say #12 or so. Then they get to play in the ACC Championship Game against a team (hopefully) that is still ranked in the Top 10. If that scenario plays put and Pitt wins the ACC Championship, they will be in the Top 10. I know that all of that sounds far-fetched, but they absolutely have a chance to pull it off.Virtually no chance of that with the strength of schedule/quality of wins and losses.

Haha. Lurking enabler saysPenn State is at 23 in the coaches poll.

I know I was happy for that. It's definitely a defense loving city. So it's good having the press cover, blitz, hard hitting d he brought. The bonus has been the offenseIsnt that what people were expecting from Narduzzi when he came to Pitt?
If you wanted evidence that the AP poll is bias, now you have it.Hahaha. 5-3 teams with 3 straight losses including at home to Illinois clearly means a top 25 team...
What a freaking joke.

Let's see if they can do it.
