The mustard yellow and the lighter blue are much better. After spending a few days in Kiev I saw blue and yellow everywhere and it is just identifiable to Ukraine.

Those colors give us an unique identity far more than the boring blue and gold.

Amen!

I think our current jerseys are the best shade of blue and the Dorsett era helmets were the best shade of gold. Agree with what was said above, tweak the gold a little bit and those are the official school colors.

I don't care if the gold is tweaked, but no royal blue; such a hideous color.

The Pitt Panther
The University of Pittsburgh adopts the panther as its mascot, for the following reasons: 1) The panther was a fearsome animal indigenous to the area, 2.) it was historically considered noble, 3.) “the happy accident of alliteration,” 4.) the panther’s coloring matches the old gold in Pitt’s blue-and-gold colors, and 5.) no other college or university had a panther mascot at the time. Those colors have been around Pitt longer than the mustered yellow and royal blue (73 to 95). I understand there are Pitt fans who would love to go back to those mustered and royal colors and I think it should be worn for every Homecoming to honor the National Championship team 76!

i love tradition, but Pitt's football tradition is tied to the mustard yellow. As well, too many other schools now share our colors. Different is good.

Vegas Gold just seems generic, like Steve.

Which is why its a good thing we use old gold...not vegas gold now...right?

Come on folks update your vision exams... We haven't used "Vegasgold" helmets for years now....or "Midnight Blue" for that matter....plus honestly today's colors look better on clothing worn... I don't dislike the old colors as a throwback , but they don't look as good on stuff like hats and t shirts etc...
