PITT-Cuse Game Day Prediction!
Game Day Predictions:
This is a game whereby Pitt wins very big or barely loses with an upset letdown in the Carrier Dome? As stated all year, no Pitt game is a Gimme in 2015 and I am worried about this game and I am on Pain Medication. Let us be honest, Pitt has won and lost all of its games by 7 points or less except Akron? Syracuse has barely lost and won its games too! Pitt has won 3 straight and Syracuse has lost 3 straight, so which Team is Hungrier and which Team is ready to become an upset Victim? If it was Coach Harris, Wannstedt, Graham, or Chryst it would be Pitt, but Coach Pat & Staff is here now? Pitt Defense still gives up big plays but has been able to hold onto wins late in the games, but not by much? Make no mistake Cuse has talent to challenge the Offensive Line and a QB that can beat Pitt Defense. Yet, Pitt Offense is getting better every game with Peterman with more than Boyd, RBs, and TEs. Add in more WRs, and Pitt can score 27 to 34 points in most game as of today. Throw in Blewitt Kicks and Special Teams, Pitt is up to 38 or 40 points as well too! Pitt can out play Cuse with Big Plays and Ball Control just like it did against Georgia Tech. Except Cuse is not as good as the Yellow Jackets? Still, Cuse QB will play his best game and so will Cuse, but not as good as will Pitt!
Game Day Predictions:
29 Syracuse 23

Preseason Prediction In August 2015:
God Bless playing Cuse right about now, but they are never easy except at Pitt Home and they are not playing at Pitt. Yet, it will depend on how good Coach Pat & Staff are doing on coaching. It will depend upon how well the players are listening to the coaching and coaching evaluating the Players, and of course key injuries not being there making mistakes for this Pitt Team? Cuse Coaching could be trouble by now too giving Pitt the edge, but Cuse Coaching has been there and it is Coach Pat first year, but 7th game? A sure win maybe, but never underestimate Cuse against Pitt?
Preseason Prediction:

Like one would expect, the Cuse are playing opponents tougher at home. I still think we get our first ACC win by more two than two touchdowns on Saturday.

I never pick Pitt to win comfortably, so you know what that means...blame me. But I'm doing it anyway.

Pitt 30
SU 14

Huge game for Peterman and breakout game for Challingsworth.

Cuse almost always plays us tough. I don't think this game is any different. Hoping the Panthers don't let their guard down. If they do, Syracuse is capable of pulling the upset. That said, I see it:

Cuse 21

They're capable of pulling the upset even if Pitt doesn't let their guard down in my opinion. Webb is out. Secondary will be thin. SU is tough in the dome.

I just picked Pitt after seeing how much SU's D is struggling and Peterman's upward trajectory. I think he'll light up the score sheet indoors.

Factors that can keep Syracuse in this one: They have gotten plenty of interceptions and fumble recoveries (6 of each). Their QB is efficient, has only thrown 1 interception in 92 attempts, and spreads the ball around to a lot of receivers -- plus he's good for 30-50 rushing yards/game. They have scored 24 or 30 points during regulation of all 5 of their FBS games, including against LSU. They have a decent pass rush and are generally aggressive up front. They are much tougher at home than on the road. Factors working against Syracuse in this one: Their D gives up big passing yardage, which an efficient QB who doesn't throw many picks or take bad sacks can exploit (that would be Peterman). Their rush attack isn't good. Their QB is a true freshman who is due for more interceptions. Those 24-30 points in regulation come against a lot of teams that regularly give up even more points than that. They just have a hard time making it all work together and can be beaten in the second half. Overall: It's up to Peterman to make quick decisions and hit short passes, letting Boyd, Holtz, Orndoff, and the RB's get the YAC as Syracuse's D over-commits downhill -- this is something our O has all the pieces for, so do it Chaney. On D, Pitt has got to pressure the QB into bad decisions, which will completely shut down their offense. The first half could be close since it's in Syracuse, but halftime adjustments are the difference as Pitt's are great and theirs are generally not good.

This game is very important for the establishment of Coach Pat Narduzzi's Trademark for the future of the Pitt Program. Coach Pat & Staff has to prove they are not like Harris, Wannstedt, Graham & Chryst without being bushwhacked by Cuse like what happen to Chryst losing 13-14 in 2012? It really set back Pitt with that loss but Coach Pat & Staff does make great Half Time Adjustments not seen at Pitt since the 1980s. This shows in the Gamr Day Preparation and Players ability to adapt to the the other teams Game Plan after the Half Time.

A win at Cuse followed by beating pretty good UNC Team on Thursday and Pitt could be it for the rest of the season.

A Loss to Cuse will be a big disappointment for Pitt Fans and the Program. I smell big recruiting on the way with this win and getting better if they beat UNC, Duke, ULou and Miami too!

Our Head Coach and staff will have our PITT PANTHERS ready..

#PITT IS IT

Pitt does not make the same mistakes it made when it couldn't put away Virginia. Pitt 34 - Cuse 13

I am ready for a win that doesn't have me dry heaving with anxiety.. How bout a nice win by 17 points, where we jump up early and rely on our run game in the second half to eat up the clock. Sounds boring and I am completely ok with boring.. We will have our fair share of nail biters with UNC, ND, Duke, Miami, and Escort U, give me a nice relaxing game please..

I mentioned last week, I think our threshold number is 28.. O scores more than 28 and we win...I don't se the D giving up more than 28...

I agree with the 28 point threshold, generally.

Syracuse is going to be ready and much like GT last week, they have their backs against the wall if they wish to go bowling this year, they need this game. They have a freshman quarterback that is quite athletic. It will be a major key to contain him and hit him, hard. Need our D Line to control the game.

On offense, we should be able to pass on their secondary...perhaps this is the week that our 2d and 3d receivers really get into the game because Boyd is going to be tripled. We need to take care of the football and not give the Syracuse short fields to work with; our running game needs to be there too to keep the Syracuse backers honest....

Will be close, nip-tuck game through halftime...something like 13-10 at the half. It will end up 37-17. Panthers. H2P.

After Connor went down....I looked at the schedule and circled this game as the one we will miss him the most.

Cuse / Pitt in the Dome has been extremely close lately....no Connor to pound out a low scoring victory.

I am going the other way. I think Pitt makes one too many mistakes this week and loses on the road

The wheels could come off at any time (as we are duly reminded weekly by nearly every living Pitt fan) as its still a young team and almost getting into unprecedented territory, but I don't think its this week.

I like Pitt's chances to be ready, and not get trapped in the Dome.
Cuse has played well at home, but I think Pitt will prove to be a notch better.

Agree mostly---Pitt 27, Cuse 24

Dome is less of a factor lately... 41,000 fans and an empty student section. But still strange things seem to happen there....absent a really sloppy game by Pitt I predict a 10 point win.... Pitt 27 - SU 17.

The running game apears to be trending in the right direction with James healthy again. Peterman will continue to grow and utilize all of his options, including Syracuse transfer Ford, who will be ready to play. The defense will also continue blitz at the right times and pressure the young Syracuse QB into at least one INT.

PITT: 34
CUSE: 17

Herbstreit picked for Corso and said Syracuse/Pitt upset alert. Would really like to see a blowout now, still not taking us seriously.

Great pick but glad it worked out the other way. I enjoy your insights very much, again good call for this game too!
