I think you are underestimating the improvement on the defensive end. Much better on ball pressure and off ball positioning than Wednesday.

Of course it really couldn't get much worse from where they started.

I agree. It hasn't been great by any stretch of the imagination, but it absolutely has been better.

Better defense (some is better than virtually none) also but not to the level that will be needed in ACC play. Offense better attacking zone but also not where you want it to be. Easy to see also that we need to bring the new young guys along gradually as they aren’t yet ready for prime time.

Better start guarding the 3 line better too. Drexel missed a bunch of open shots. An ACC team converts a higher percentage of those for sure.

This Pitt team is going to be far far better by late January, IMHO. In this Covid year it is way too early to conclude how good or bad any team will eventually be. Heck, even Duke is struggling some with Coppin State. Only up 60-54 with about 9 minutes left.

Champagnie did a good job setting the tone early. X played with a ton of heart today.

We were consistently getting beat off the dribble all game. Drexel shot 48.4% FG, had 11 OReb and I think over 40 points in the paint. I didn't see much to get optimistic about on the defensive end.

I’m really impressed by Jeffress and his body type at 17 years old. He is getting a lot of minutes and I think come late in the year both him and Hugley will be much improved and make this Pitt much better later this season in Jan and Feb.

11 offensive rebounds on 33 misses isn't anything great. It's slightly above average. On the other hand, we had 4 offensive rebounds on 22 misses. Only 22 misses, good. Only getting four offensive rebounds on those 22 misses, bad.

Also, points in the paint, Drexel 48-36. 48 is a lot.
