I'm a little shocked how little it takes to send this board into a self loathing fury. I get that it's been learned over the years but you guys really need to settle down and relax.

Yup. Pretty predictable. Disappointing loss in a tough road environment to a quality team and losing a recruit... BOOM. Doom and gloom. Glad to see the topics are slowly but surely shifting to what's one of Pitt's bigger contests this season. Big game coming up. That's where my focus lies.
Not all of us. In fact, there are some other great discussions concerning the upcoming UNC game, which is undeniably the most important game of this young season.
Why is it bad for people to be upset? If it weren't for people caring football would be a club sport.

I understand folks want to turn around as quickly as Houston. But, does Houston win 9 or 10 games with Pitt's schedule this season? Probably 9, maybe 10. Oklahoma's looking like a big time pretender and that's who they've beaten. We'll see how they fare v. Louisville.

We celebrate 8 win seasons up until about year 6, then we fire the coach.
I never visit any other boards but I doubt this one is much different than all the rest (with the exception of the cult to our East for obvious reasons).

It's like anything else half of people need something to complain about and other half complain about the people who our complaining. This describes Pitt fans one tough loss and one loss of a recruit people react like we are doomed. I will be the first one to sound off if I think Narduzzi and his staff have recruiting issues but at this moment he's working with Chryst and his own recruits so let's give him a break.
While I think I see what you are going for here, making broad statements like "Pitt fans suck" probably isn't the best way to win over people here- since we are all Pitt fans (presumably even you). I'd imagine you don't think you suck.
There may be some fans who often seem to see the cup as half full, but then there are many other Pitt fans who are very supportive of the team. Sometimes even those very supportive fans feel the need speak up when they see problem areas the team seems to have with the hope that those problem areas are being addressed by the coaches and players quickly and thus the team keeps getting better.
When you have coaches saying the right things and coaching their best and when we see the players playing their best, we as fans cannot ask for more. But when there is room for improvement (as there usually is with a team), it seems reasonable for avid fans to expect improvement throughout the season and from season to season. It just isn't necessarily productive for fans to bitch about unreasonable expectations.
On the other hand, any Pitt fan making blanket statements like "Pitt sucks," "Same old Pitt" or even "Pitt fans suck," is not helping in creating a more reasonable fan base.

Actually I think losing a recruit after 2 years of hard work, over a 24 hour bullshiiitfest, was worse than that game. We played great in that game, in the end our OC decided to go LA RAMS on us
An honor ? I don't call lying over nothing or nobody an honor. Some people are realist, some are sheep, see pirate fans, and some are pom pomers, others are pessimistic, takes all kind, glad we have many different people that care! Maybe we shouldn't attack those that think, feel, express themselves differently
I don't think that it's all of us, just the same 6-7 posters who high jack every thread. For those guys: we get it, you are mad that Pitt isn't Ohio state yet. You don't have to repeat yourselves over and over.
So much for 24/7 sports and everyone else in the world who insisted Jeter was a sure bet to go to Pitt.

Everyone keeps talking about the quick turn around done at Houston, but often the programs that get really good in a hurry usually get that good in a dirty fashion (Baylor). I'm sure sanctions await Houston 5-6 years down the road when the NCAA learns why all Herman got all these great recruits to sign onto an AAC school.
Don't think you will see that from that coach at Houston. He is known to be pretty stand up. We have an old school coach, , which is fine, it just will take a little longer, but the foundation will be solid.
so pitt fans cant be upset after a loss, that means we are bad fans. We cant "not care" because that would show we are an apathetic fanbase, something we've been accused of countless times. If we are always happy, we are nothing but "homers" drinking kool aid (Hate that cliché btw). So tell us, how should we act? We need to give money, be happy no matter what but not too happy. Anything else we need to do to not suck?
Yes, avid fans get emotional, and react. If they didn't care about Jeter, they would have let it pass easily. But, they cared and not only wanted him, but thought they had a great shot at him. It will pass though. Your post headline stinks as a matter of fact. Avid, emotional fans come with every fanbase, but that doesn't mean they stink. You could have used a different headliner. Every board has its extreme posters, but are still proud of their team.
If I have to repeat this ad nauseum to get it through your heads I wil......If a local kid doesn't want to come here then go beat the bushes and get another another kid comparable or if you strike it right better than the one who leaves...that is all part of recruiting.....the angst over losing a kid baffles me on this board....

Look, I was disappointed Saturday but I think most of us had OkSt as a loss going into the season. They're not playing great football on defense. That's easy to see. I just can't lose my mind over one game. Same deal with Jeter. One kid. Yeah, it sucks when a kid looks like a get and ends up somewhere else but it happens.
