I thought I would look up when James Connor the 2nd Commit to Pitt early in 2012 by Paul Chryst. Looks like very similar type of attitudes, positions, rankings and offers. Just like Pittmeister posted above Palmer Stars will rise. Even James Conner when he first committed only 2 Stars and had only MAC Schools Offers, but that changed during 2012 High School Season and he was moved to 3 Stars. And not looking to put any pressure on Noah, just seeing they both seem to have great attitudes coming to Pitt and can't wait to get started and develop, just like James did in 2013.

Conner turned out to be one of Greatest Recruits & Players in Pitt History. Tall Deeds for Palmer to achieve at either DE or TE or LB, but has the same attitude if you read both Links. Just like Conner, glad I am at Pitt, and teach me what to do and I'll do it!

I agree with JPRipper88, that Pitt has to step up and grab more recruits and quick. But that 2013 Class was made fun of too back in 2012. Chryst & Narduzzi knows how select recruits and how to develop their talent is also just as important! Still, as Pitt keeps Rebuilding its Program the need for more Top Recruits will grow too.

No Pitt Fan would exchange cheers, memories, and years in watching Jame Conner at Pitt these 5 years overcome cancer and more to come following the Steelers!

WELCOME NOAH PALMER SMART RECRUITS CHOOSE PITT IS IT!
...........TJ coach Bill Cherpak described Palmer as a "team leader and role model.""He realizes this is just the beginning," said Cherpak, a former Pitt lineman. "He's ready to prove that Pitt made a great decision offering him."......"I've been surrounded by Pitt all my life," he said. "It's awesome that I can say I'm playing for Pitt. Plus, it's close to family.".........Palmer, who also plays tight end for Thomas Jefferson, said he has offers from several Mid-American Conference schools, plus Army and Robert Morris. He said choosing Pitt was an easy decision.

Erie's Connor commits to Pitt

Pitt head coach Paul Chryst received his second verbal commitment in as many days when James Connor of Erie McDowell said he plans to play for the Panthers next year. Conner, 6-2 and 235-pounds, has added size since his junior year and can play multiple positions, including linebacker, defensive end and running back. He'll play defensive end and running back as a senior. Conner set a McDowell school record with 12 sacks as a junior in 2011. He also had offers from MAC programs Toledo, Ohio, Eastern Michigan and Bowling Green.

James Conner’s Quote That Will Live In Pitt Football Infamy!
"I Know There Are So Many People In The World Who Were Told By Their Doctors This Week That They Also Have Cancer. I Want Them To Know That Together We Can - And Will - Beat Cancer,” Conner Said. "I Will Play Football Again. I Will Be At Heinz Field Again. I Have The Best Coaches And Teammates In The Country. I Thank God I Chose Pitt Because Now I Also Have The Best Doctors In The Country And Together We Will Win. I Know This City Has My Back."

Ricky Jackson was 6'2" 195lbs when he first came to Pitt

That was in the '70s, at the time Ricky Jackson played, go back and listen to the broadcast of Super Bowl XIV, the announcer comments, "This Steelers line is HUGE, my God they average 260 across the line!"

He was 235-240 by the time he graduated and played at 240-245 in his NFL HOF career.

Really like Noah's video... good speed, quickness, and size. With his smarts, attitude, leadership, and time in the weight room- he looks like another (under the radar) kid that will pay dividends a few years down the road. All three commits fit that template.

That's fine, there are some guys that size that can play. Back then it was more of the norm, not unusual. I played high school football in the '70s, really heavy O-lineman where like 240 then, I was an OT/DE at 205. Today I go to my daughter's high school and watch some of their games, 300 pound OL are common today. Not saying this kid won't be good, I don't know, but TODAY, 2017, 225 definitely is undersized for a DE.

Pitt79... My friend was a 5' 8, 180 lb OG in 1977, so true about how big the players are getting. This DE, however, has at least two years to bulk up before he gets on the field. Could easily be 270 by his soph year.

JJ Smith ended up a high 3 star with offers from Oklahoma, and other successful programs.

The other guys you mentioned played and started on one of the worst defenses in the entire country. Which them being 2 stars without any p5 offers obviously contributed to that result.

I agree with you stars really don't mean anything to me. However, offers is a whole different animal.

Give me kids that other proven successful coaches also want.

If and when we start to beat them out for the same type players. That's when you can expect Pitt to be better than a 6 to 8 win program. If we do not? Expect the same we have seen over the last 30 years

I know this may sound sacrilegious on a recruiting web site's message board, but I don't know why there is so much angst towards a specific Pitt recruit - ever.

I'm talking in generalities, not about any specific recruit, but I just don't get the idea of fans complaining about a Pitt recruit based on what employees at a recruiting site or other coaches think about a kid.

I don't follow high school football, and I'm not about to start; but to me, if our coach is willing to bet his million dollar plus a year job on the guys he signs, that's good enough for me. If, after a few years the wins haven't been there, I trust the school to find a replacement coach to spend those millions of dollars on.

I never know if a 2 or 3 star will be the next James Conner, or if a five star will be the next Pat Bostick. I'm glad they both were Pitt Panthers, but neither's career matched his star rating.

Back around the time we marveled at the invention of the wheel, OL Matt Carroll at 270 was the heaviest guy listed on the National Championship roster (and was nicknamed "Beef"). In this "modern" era, he'd be considered puny and probably be nicknamed "Bones".
