Pitt football playing later in the season than the Steelers

with the steeler's loss today (and barring some unusual circumstances next week for the black and gold), it certainly looks like Pitt (December 31st) will be playing later into the season than the Steelers (December 30th). how's that for an anomaly?

i'm sure someone can help me out and figure out the last time that happened.

Guess i'll answer my own question. Not so long ago. 2012.

Pitt played Ole Miss in the BBVA bowl on Jan 5th and the Steelers missed the playoffs that year, ending their final game Dec 30th.

Pitt played Ole Miss in the BBVA bowl on Jan 5th and the Steelers missed the playoffs that year, ending their final game Dec 30th.

That was an ugly one. I remember watching that game thinking how much more athletic they were and how far Pitt had to go to compete with those type teams.
