Pitt Gets Leggett!

16.4 in the A10. 2 years left. This is probably the best transfer we have ever gotten on paper. Capel's close rate on visits is high.

PG - Johnson/Lowe
SG - Leggett/Carrington
SF - Austin/Jeffress
PF - Hinson/Jorge
C - Fede/Guillermo

Barnes
Need 2 more, maybe 3 more if Dior transfers to Western Kentucky 😂

We absolutely need a rebounder. Then the last spot you, you probably need a PG in the event Dior leaves or gets suspended but I dont see any good PGs coming here to compete. They need a guarantee. Then if you get one, Dior probably leaves.

Like that he has 2 years left. Yes, a lot can change in a year, but on paper we now have a roster that will have some continuity.

I love this addition to the roster. He really can take it to the hoop and we need that big time with Burton graduating. He also seems to fit the culture they are trying to build here as well. He could have left last year but wanted to give Archie Miller a chance. Classy move that also obviously that ended up working to our advantage this year when it didn't work out.

He has 2 left but if he graduates he can transfer again. I’m weary of penciling in guys who come from bad lower level programs to be good but I lien this kid. I’d also expect 3 more scholarships to be had. I bet one of the 3 freshmen backs out just based on odds, most likely Barnes

This is why I suggested a
few weeks ago that Austin
would more than likely be
a 3 (wing) as opposed to
being just an off guard.
Capel now has some more
flexibility as he did this
past year with his backcourt.
We have Dior and Lowe at
pg, and Liggett can also as
did Burton.

Even though I like what I'm
seeing, I still have to see
Dior in real time before I'm
totally convinced he's able
to handle the pg spot.
Same with Lowe, but it
seemingly is looking like
Capel is getting talent
along with eperience.

Another great get. Transfer season is off to a fantastic start.
Reminds me of the fall of the Roman Empire in the 4th and 5th centuries. Their legions were manned almost exclusively by non Roman mercenaries who had no stake in staving off the barbarians...some day this will be the fate of college athletics..

Need a shooter!!!!

They have shooting between Hinson, Austin, Leggett and I believe Dior was talked about as a shooter last year.

I'm not convinced you want Dior or Austin starting, so you could look at the PG and wing positions.
As far as PG, I'm not really sure who is remaining they could look to go after?
Posh Alexander? Veteran who plays defense and can pass.

Hinson is the only "senior" on the roster if class balance means anything anymore. Maybe they can target another veteran player out there.

Enough of this Dior not being here or not starting . He was considered a special recruit nationally last yr and he has practiced with the team since January. He will also have an entire off season to work on his game with the coaches and his teammates , he will be ready . Any pg that will be brought in will be for insurance purposes only . I understand the trepidation some have about him being here knowing his past , but he’d be gone by now if those were his intentions .

He was so good that Bowman has a card of him in their college basketball series, though this was when he was a HS senior. My son got it in a pack.

Austin and Leggett are good players, but not close to pure shooters. At least not yet.

We are missing a Greg Elliott three point specialist type player. I picture a Greg Elliott type shooter, but coming off the bench- I hope they’re targeting that in the portal.

Our team dynamic was completely different this year because of our ability to stretch the floor. We can’t rely on Hinson logo shots and Jorge as our only guaranteed three point volume coming into the season.

100% agree with this.

No he won’t. Dior will be penciled in as a starter. Why are so many lairmen trying to will him out of town?

Maybe his character and lack of commitment has something to do with it? He's not the most trustworthy guy. If he's even here to start the season, there's no guarantee he'll be here by the end.

Maybe the coaching staff and last years veteran leadership had a positive influence on Dior and he’s turning things around?

As I said last Summer, kudos to Capel for making this program interesting again after the wheels had completely fallen off. Granted, I also suggested catapulting him into outer space after the Michigan loss, but I did give him credit last summer.

To be fair he's taken himself out of town everywhere he's been.

If it ends up being Dior at the PG I don't know how to compare his 3FG to Nelly.
Leggett vs Burton: similar percentages but Leggett shoots a higher volume.
The four and five should be the same with Hinson and Fede. That leaves the three as you mention.

Elliott was such a niche find in the portal as we had the assistant coach connection. I don't know who you could find in the portal to come off the bench. Hard to know the market for these portal guys and who can offer them a starting spot.

For example the 2/3 shooter market is: Cormac Ryan (ND), Simas Lukosius (Butler), Dawson Baker (UC Irvine), Ryan Langborg (Princeton), Charles Pride (Bryant), Max Shulga (Utah State), Chico Carter (South Carolina), Joe French (Bethune-Cookman), Evan Taylor (Lehigh), Le'Tre Darthard (Utah Valley), Ja'Monta Black (NW State) and Xander Rice (Bucknell).

I'm sure there are a few more, but I stopped going down the portal rankings at that point.

Now filter that group for who can shoot at this level, won't be a turn-style on defense and depending on who they vision starting at the wing be willing to come off the bench.

To be fair, he also has been here a good while and from all reports has integrated into the team quite well despite having to sit a year. It's possible he has grown up.

All we have to go on is his history and past. It's not good. He usually bolts everywhere he's ever been. We'll see if he's changed at all, hopefully.

Commitment? He seems to have committed himself quite well by sticking around despite not being able to play. From all reports he is fully on board. We shall see. And you really have no idea about his character.

I'm only going on reports of his past activities, changing teams like he changes underwear, and actual results from the kid. Kids with high character don't get arrested like he did. If he stays at Pitt, this will be his one and only commitment he has honored.

You're going on speculation and hope. I'm going on history and results.
