I have not seen the Pitt Defense play with such intensity since WVU 13-9 Win, and that was not a trend under Coach Dave & Staff? However, Harris, Wannstedt, Graham, and Chryst did not do as much as Coach Pat & Staff in his first Power Conference Test Away against Kirk Ferentz than all of them? This tells me Coach Pat right now is a Very Good Coach and could become a Great Head Coach, but will wait for that observation from this first season? I expect some hiccups and stalls for Coach Pat & Staff for this entire season.
Additionally, unlike Harris that needed 4 seasons to rebuild Pitt and Wannstedt that needed 3 seasons to change over to his Pro-Set System, under a Better Paid Staff, & Higher Ranked Recruits. As well as, Graham that blamed Pitt Players, made excuses, could not stand Pederson, and scrammed to the Desert leaving Pitt Players lost and bewildered, Coach Pat & Staff has the character to win at Pitt.
Moreover, unlike Chryst & Staff that could not get a Head coaching job on his own, was slow to choosing a changing staff, foolish to think he did not need a Special Teams Coach, and just had to learn all 3 seasons long, but left Pitt with a great offense, Coach Pat & Staff is equal and ahead of that Staff.
Coach Pat did inherit a very good Team on Offense to be fair. Yet, this Team did lose Connor and some Offensive Linemen, brought in a New Staff and QB, added a Special Team Coach, and took over a Team that had little Defense and no Special Teams all 3 seasons and last year under Chryst! This is a huge improvement on the Defense and Special Teams.
Coach Pat Narduzzi bringing in this new Staff is something Harris, Wannetdt, Graham, and Chryst did not do as well, in my opinion. It shows Coach Narduzzi has gone from Defensive Coordinator and now thinks, acts, and will be a very good to great head Coach, in my opinion!
Still, the season is still full of challenges and the Offense right now is dependent upon a Healthy Tyler Boyd until all the Wideouts and Running Game and QBs can learn to play catch up. If Pitt ever lost Boyd now without Connors, Pitt can still go south in hurry. Yet, expect the Defense to get better and Special Teams too!
Here is what I expect and see for the rest of the season after watching the first 3 games and seeing the results of the other Teams on the Schedule. Again, Pitt cannot afford to lose Boyd looking at the future Schedule below:

I don't expect a 11-1, 10-2, 9-3, season at all. I can see a 9-4 with continued improvements and no key injuries. I do expect 8-5 or 7-6 season, again even with hiccups and some mistakes by Coach Pat & Staff and that is not a bad season for a DC in his first Head Coaching debut and this very tough schedule away game? I do expect Coach Pat & Staff making this Team better every game as the season goes along. I also want to see Coach Pat & Staff recruiting better this season too and in the future. I will be surprise if Coach Pat & Staff is a One Year Wonder? In reality, this is not Coach Pat & Staff Recruits until 2017, but its his Staff turning these recruits and players into complete Units on Offense, Defense, and Special Teams!
