Those were some tough "all stars".
Probably could put together a better team together in the greater Pgh region.
But great experience for these guys.
I'll be enjoying the highlights when they come out.

Northern Iowa lost the MVC Title game to Bradley last year blowing an 18 point 2nd half lead to make the NCAA Tournament. Northern Iowa is arguably the favorite to win the MVC this year and are projected as a preseason Top 75 National team as their entire team is back minus 1 player. Northern Iowa beat this team 101-64 right before Pitt, by 37 points. Pitt won by 63 points and was winning by 42 points after the 3rd quarter.

Yea, our defense looks dam good right now suffocating these teams. The same Netherlands B team Pitt just beat, the Netherlands B team beat Illinois 82-72. Pitt held the Netherlands B team to 55 points with a dinged up Mcgowens and Coulibaly being run down from the World Cup Tournament.

These are only scrimmages obviously. But two things clearly stand out. Pitt's defense as a collective unit was darn good in Italy in all 3 games. All that added wingspan and athleticism by the new freshmen is making a huge difference on defense as I previously said it would. And Murph's shooting has been great and pretty impressive which is just what we needed.

Im going to repeat what I said. Pitt's defense will carry Pitt this year. Come November our defense will lock up Florida State in the first game of the season. Im confident in that. I wanted to see Pitt shut down all 3 teams in a row in Italy and Pitt passed with flying colors in all 3 games.

Great job by Capel and the staff, great job by the whole team, and great job by all the new freshmen and additions buying into the defensive mindset of Jeff Capel. Defense, defense, defense!

Thanks for the update. If there's one thing we know, it's that Capel definitely
coaches his players UP. Last year's three recruits played better than expected.
This year's group is a good, but non elite mix. Despite the talent level of the
opposition in this European tour, it seems that they're buying into Capel and
what he wants. I realize these games are not ACC level, but IMO due to
the new recruits, we now have better talent and depth than last season.
My take on this tour is very positive. I really like how Capel used it to build
the intangibles like togetherness, teamwork, motivation etc. IMO as far as the
tangibles (actual on floor playing and results) we will have to wait for the
season, but from what I see at this point....Pitt Bball is on the UP with
Capel in charge.

Agree. I believe we can manage a 0.500+ overall season. Maybe we win 17 to 19 games and perhaps get an NIT bid.

Call me crazy but I think if they continue to get better and work hard together I think 20 wins this season is very doable!

That would be very nice but probably requires at least 10 ACC wins between regular season and the ACC Tourney. That would be very difficult.

Well I'm not gonna call you "crazy" LOL....but 20 wins? I do think we can get
17 which would be an improvement over last year. The non league has its
patsies, but also some tough ones as well with WVU, Bradley, Kansas St,
and Rutgers. The ACC is a nightmare...can we realistically get more than
6-8 wins in conference? I hope you're right!

I say that because even though the big teams Reloaded with good to great recruits they're still freshmen and even you count North Carolina and Duke as losses I think we still can get 10 wins in ACC this year. The conference is ripe for the taking as far as getting more wins this year.

You guys mark this down that you heard this from me and if I'm wrong I'll be the first to admit it I'm a real man I can admit that I'm wrong but if I'm right imma let you guys Patt me on the back I'm not going to blow my own horn.

Are we so desperate for positivity that we will celebrate beating a scrub team by more than a scrub MVC team?

My comment regarding Pitt's recruiting last year- Pitt's roster will be considerably better than last season's roster. Anyone who actually watched the recruits should have already been excited to see this team. In other words, there's nothing desperate needed to be positive.

With Hamilton and Coulibaly taking some minutes away from Brown....that alone should make Pitt better.
Team looks pretty deep. No doubt Capel has Pitt going in the right direction. Exciting as hell.
