Press release:
Brown Joins Pitt Men’s Basketball Staff
PITTSBURGH – University of Pittsburgh head coach Jeff Capel announced the addition of Milan Brown to his coaching staff Wednesday afternoon. Brown joins the staff after spending the past three seasons as an assistant coach at the College of Charleston.
“I have known Milan for over 20 years and have a great deal of respect for him as a coach and as a person,” said Capel. “He has a tremendous amount of energy and passion for the game of basketball and is an outstanding recruiter with strong ties across the Northeast as well as in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia. In addition to being a strong recruiter, he does an outstanding job with player development and establishing lasting relationships with the student-athlete. I am excited to have him join our staff and look forward to his positive presence on the court, in meetings, in the community and in the Pitt Athletic Department as a whole. We are fortunate to have Coach Brown as part of the Pitt basketball family.”
Brown has over 20 years NCAA Division I coaching experience, including 12 seasons as a head coach at Mount St. Mary’s (2003-10) and Holy Cross (2010-15). He compiled a 164-203 record as a head coach with an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2008 and a pair of CIT bids (2009 and 2014).

Brown helped lead the Monarchs to a combined record of 40-24 over two seasons. In 1996-97, ODU won both the Colonial Athletic Association regular-season and tournament titles and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
Brown’s assistant coaching resume also includes stops at Mount St. Mary’s (1997-2000, 2002-03) and William & Mary (2000-02).
