Drilled 4-1 this afternoon at Georgetown. Gtown has a great program but geez. The PSU game was pretty telling. This group may get there but they have a long way to go.

Big East is a very top heavy conference with a few teams that can do serious damage. The addition of Akron should make it a conference that can and will upset the power 5s. Georgetown men and women are fantastic programs. I’d say better to lose to Georgetown than PSU. but 4-1 is not a good look in any loss. Georgetown men recruit very well, and are always a solid program.

Did any of you MSOC fans watch the Syracuse/PSU game last night? Pretty entertaining. Cuse GK got a red card with about 20 min left and PSU scored up a man with about 2:00 left in the match. Syracuse ran a crazy Hail Mary type kickoff play and ended up tying the match no more than :15 later. Great match.

Georgetown won the national championship not long ago. I believe it was 2019. Recruits the opposite of Pitt. Almost all Americans, recruited from high school.

Both ways can work, but Georgetown is likely to have more stability. And 4-1 illustrates that.

PSU looked pretty good to me, I hate to say but then seeing the Pitt/Gtown score, it made me wonder if both Pitt and PSU are just average but if PSU drew Syr, that shows PSU is legit.

Luis Samkhow sitting in the bleachers. Did he get red carded against Georgetown or is he another casualty of Jay Vidovich.

Looking good right now vs #2 Marshall. 1-1.

And as I say this Marshall goes up 2-1 on an own goal against the run of play.

Well the 2nd goal was a deflected shot for Marshall to go up 2-1. But they just scored a beauty to go up 3-1.

3-1 loss.

Paired with the 4-1 loss to Gtown and it doesn’t look good.

I missed the first half tonight but Pitt had the better of the play in the 2nd half. Good ball movement and passing. Marshall did well staying in shooting lanes and defending in front of goal. Our new attacker looks pretty good.

The difference in the match was a deflected shot that went in for them, and then a DOGSA situation at the other in the 85th minute that was a step away from being a penalty and a likely goal for us, as we got behind their backs and 1v1 with keeper but got clipped from behind entering the box but not yet in the box. So a red card and a free kick was given but it was too close to get the ball up and down from 18.5 yards out.

I guess we'll have opportunities for wins, but right now, we're just getting hammered. Jackson and Mateo are pretty serviceable, but the other two defenders have had a pretty rough go of it. Carter has been put into some tough situations (and he did have a highlight reel save tonight), but he's a bit of a turnstile back there. It looks Luis Samkhow and Ameer Abdullah got booted from the team. Hopefully this team can string a few wins together. Last year, Georgetown came in as the no. 2 in the country, lost to us, spiraled, but then made the tournament. Hope we can do the same maybe.

Sahmkow and Abdullah are still on the roster. Maybe they are just suspended.

Lefevre had an awful night. Got his ankles broken by Bell on the 1st goal and then an own goal (but probably given the Marshall player the goal) on the 2nd. Also

Marshall dominated the 1st Half. Pitt was better for most of the 2nd Half which is a positive. But just not good enough. Vidovich is trying to find combinations and doing so against NC contendors. This team is going to be a work in progress. Still cant figure out why the Marshall transfer hasnt played.

The 3-1 result probably wasnt fair but Marshall was better. The Bell kid is one of the best players in the country. Thought he was an American but disappointed to hear he was Jamaican. Not sure Marshall played any Americans. Their coach does an excellent job. They did a foreign tour in Brazil in June and are really far along as a team. Pitt is finding itself. It was frustrating to see them not even attempt shots at times when they were fairly open. Shoot the ball. Put in on frame and see what happens. Too much overpassing.

Samkhow back in lineup tonight

Yea, figured he was still on team since they didnt take him off the roster. I wanted to watch this game on Sunday since I was at Pitt game. Had all 3 of my favorite soccer teams all playing opposite Pitt football so was going to watch them all on delay. But found out through social media the Pitt and USMNT scores so that only left Miami for me to watch. Great win over Wake though. The team has talent but it may take awhile for them to come together
