PITT-Navy Game Day Prediction:
A very tough game to call due to many "knowns" about a well disciplined and coached Navy Team. The problems for Pitt are the many "Unknowns" for Pitt's Players execution under Coach Pat first Bowl Game? Pitt has Salem the Tight End Coach being the Interim OC calling the Plays and how Peterman reacts are both unknown? How and when Pitt Defense responds to Navy's Triple Option won’t be known until Game Time and then adjustments after Half Time? Pitt Coach Pat Narduzzi has had 3 weeks to prepare for Navy but how Pitt Players will execute on Game Day fell short all season long against Ranked Teams with good QBs? How Coach Pat & Staff in first Bowl shows his ability as a Coach to keep focus and having such time to prepare his Players will not be known until after the game? Navy on the other hand, has kept their Head Coach & Staff all intact, wins with perfection at Home, and is Ranked and beat Ranked Team in Memphis! Both lost to Notre Dame giving up 40+ Points! Navy has a senior at QB that can run and gun with great Running Backs! Navy's Defense is known to make Turnovers that win close games! Navy’s Coach and Players will execute on Game Day! This is why most Experts are picking Navy by 3 points. Even though my Head tells me not to bet this game in any way, I have to believe in Coach Narduzzi. Pitt has the talent to beat Navy by this 13th game, and up to Peterman to be his best with the New Interim OC. Special Teams have to win this game when needed too. Both Teams will control the Game Time on Offense. I am going with my Hunch Coach Pat & Salem will have his Players ready to execute and beat Navy!

"Saboteur, post: 675278, member: 5688"]I expect fewer possessions than the average game. We got beat by power running and good to better passing QBs. I expect us to win by 10 or so.
30-21.
The only comparison is the Notre dame Game and Navy and Pitt did not have the Talent to beat that Team.

Coach Herman's Houston high flying Offense also took Navy out, but Memphis's Coach Fuente's was blown away at Home taking this Team lightly. Memphis jumped out for a lead, but Navy wore them down with Triple Option?

Pitt has to get off to a Big Start and play all game long, and not quit in the 4th Quarter, all Narduzzi New Attitude on Defense, but Pitt Offense Players need to Execute right away and New OC is still unknown?

Navy Players are as Disciplined and Focused as Coach Narduzzi & Staff coaches up his Players, and Pitt has had trouble when playing against Good QBs Iowa, UNC, ND, and Miami, and Navy has a great one!

I know Coach Narduzzi wil have a Good Game Plan and make Half Time Adjustments, but Players Execution did not show up in Miami Game and came up short? Pitt players have to be at their best!

By The way, The Connor Banner will be at 9:30 12:45 at GATE 6 on 550 Taylor Street for All Pitt Visiting fans To SIGN.

In Addition, All Pitt fans are urged to Yell & Scream "CONNOR STRONG" when the Pitt Team come out at the Start of the Game!!!

 You think the Pitt Banner & Conner Chants will inspire the Panthers to play their best game of the year?:)

Navy is a very solid team. The play good defense and don't make a lot of dumb mistakes. Their QB is extremely dangerous with the ball. He can take it the distance at any time. Add to that, the fact that Pitt hasn't played option teams all that well in the past few years, and this is stacking up as a tough, tough game.

All that said, I actually like our chances a lot. Navy is quick and relentess, but not particularly big. If you look at the ND game, it was very close at the half and ND pulled away as the game wore on. I suspect that ND's size and athleticism wore Navy down. While Pitt isn't ND, I think we will own the second half. If we can keep the game close in the first half, we should win going away. I'm calling it:

Pitt 35
Navy 28

Nice Analysis!

I really want to see How Coach Pat & Staff does in having 3 weeks to prepare for Navy. This is reveal much about his coaching and Navy is a challenge as you point out!

So far, the Pitt game Plans were all very good, but the Players did not execute at times and cost them wins by falling behind.

As you say, Pitt has to come out early and dominate the game and then hold on, because Navy can wear a Defense out?

Moreover, all year long Coach Pat & Staff have done very good with half time Adjustments and no quit attitudes in the 4th Quarter.:D

Game Planning Adjustments were great, but Players have to execute along with the play-calling! Could have won Miami!

HEAD START: Pittsburgh has been preparing for Navy ever since the Military Bowl matchup was announced on Sunday, Dec. 6. The Panthers will probably use all 15 allotted practice slots.

Meantime, the Midshipmen did not begin practicing for the Military Bowl until last Monday. That's because Navy had to play archrival Army on Dec. 12 then took a week off afterward so players could focus on exams and the assistants could go on the road recruiting.

Most programs can treat the bowl practice period almost like another spring or preseason camp, using the additional practice time to develop younger players. Navy wound up using just five total practice sessions and is fortunate to get in the work necessary to prepare for Pitt.

"Every bowl I'm concerned about that. Ever since the Army game got pushed back that's the situation we've been in with the bowl schedule. It is what it is," Niumatalolo said. "Pittsburgh could care less. They're not going to take it easy on us because we had finals and less time to prepare. They're going to try and pummel us."

Niumatalolo sent all the scout team players home for the holidays following exams. As a result, Navy has been practicing this week with the travel squad only. Three Anne Arundel County products — quarterback Zach Abey (Archbishop Spalding), offensive lineman Jake Hawk (Meade) and cornerback Jarid Ryan (Severn School) — made the travel squad and thus participated in practice for the Military Bowl.

"We just finished finals. Most people use all their allotted practices. We didn't even practice last week. Finals are pretty grueling here and we wanted to make sure our guys did the best they can. That's always been our approach," Niumatalolo said. "I would love to have kept all the scout guys, but we have to let them go home for Christmas. You don't get many breaks here. So the guys that weren't involved, we sent them home."

42-40 Pitt and I hope we start the game power running and then we gouge them with big plays. I hope we go up big and my close score anticipates Navy never giving up and getting it close but time runs out.
