That turned out to be on the ground. Pitt used 10 ballcarriers to amass 281 yards, led by wide receiver Quadree Henderson, who had 107 yards on nine attempts. He caught three passes for only 13 yards, however. Four Pitt players scored touchdowns on the ground: running backs James Conner and Chawntez Moss, fullback George Aston and Peterman. That was the first time that has happened at Pitt in 20 years.
Injury update

Pitt played the game without four regulars on defense. Linebacker Elijah Zeise (ankle) and defensive end Dewayne Hendrix (foot) are lost for the season, and senior linebacker Mike Caprara didn't play because of what Pitt is calling a lower-body injury. Senior linebacker Bam Bradley (lower body) played sparingly. Redshirt freshman linebacker Saleem Brightwell made his first career start and recorded five tackles, a sack, fumble recovery and pass breakup. Pitt had only one other pass breakup, and that was by cornerback Ryan Lewis on North Carolina's final drive.

James looked tired early,” Narduzzi said. “We are just trying to make sure he was fresh.” Conner ended up with two of Pitt's three longest plays — a 27-yard run and a 39-yard reception. He also was Pitt's leading pass catcher with four for 64 yards. Moss, who carried seven times for 47 yards and a touchdown, might have earned more playing time.
...........
Travelin' men. Pitt's traveling party consisted of 12 freshmen, including three who did not travel to Oklahoma State: Maurice Ffrench, offensive lineman Brandon Ford and defensive lineman Rashad Wheeler. Ffrench carried twice for 9 yards, but the only other freshmen to get in the game were Moss and wide receiver Aaron Mathews.
