Pitt opts out of post season tournaments

I think after their first round loss @ ACCT, the team probably was done, anyway. Whatever motivation they had or lacked would not resurface for post-season play. And when several players will either voluntarily enter the portal or be asked to, it was a moot point. Capel and Greene need a serious strategy to find the recipe for success going forward

this is like opting out because you know you have no viable post season opportunities. this wasn't even a NIT Team

The comment implies that the AD expects to keep Capel in place. Heather issued an almost identical statement after the 3-9 season and Narduzzi is still here. Since the statement made no mention of anyone or anything else, it looks like everyone and everything else is up for “evaluation.” Capel will have to make some moves, whether he wants to or not.

Of course Capel will stay, it costs too much to fix Lyke's mistake.

For the millionth time, no. This team would have been one of the top seeds in the NIT because the no Power 5 teams are entering

I think that people still don't realize that the Big 12, Big Ten and Big East teams will be playing in a different tournament, so the NIT is going to need whatever ACC and SEC teams they can get their hands on.

I mean it must be that, because the alternative is too depressing to contemplate.

What a bunch of crybabies. If they love each other so much, like Austin and Lowe said after the ND game, go out and fight to win a NIT game. Try, don't quit. What a hideous season and team.

Better? There's no shortage of blame to go around for Capel's contract and I'm more than happy to see it shared among all deserving parties.

My larger point remains unchanged, unless there is some sort of buyout cliff we don't know about.
