Pitt PSU Game Official 8 PM

IMO this just became a must-win game for the program to take a huge step forward. Call it an overreaction if you want, but we've had this discussion a million times and here's our opportunity - home game, night, huge crowd, top 10 opponent, ESPN primetime, rivalry, tons of recruits. This is a game we have to win to get out of this mediocrity we seem to have found ourselves in.

Your posting history suggests that you are one who really understands mediocrity.

My guess is a Noon kickoff would open at PSU -15.5. The later start time should move the line in Pitt's favor some. I would imagine you'll see an opening line around PSU -12. This line will sway in Pitt's favor as money comes in. If you want to take action on Pitt, don't place money early. Patience will get you a better number.

I would take Pitt +12 any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I guarantee that we're very competitive because if the past two season taught us anything - this is only game Narduzzi truly cares about.

It's a shame Pitt isn't playing Bucknell instead.

To be fair, Penn State doesn't want to play us going forward. And us matched up with any other team probably wouldn't land the 8 pm slot. ABC doesn't have many options that day, and is looking for something it can market. Pitt-Penn State offers history/geography. If we were playing UF or Texas or USCw or some other big name, that isn't there. So it's probably a noon or 3 pm kick off.

I disagree. There's probably 10-15 other schools that land an 8PM ABC with us.

Careful, your PSU bias is rearing it's ugly head again.....

No other team? Pitt played ND in prime time a couple of times at home in the last few years...If they were matched up against Pitt, it would be in prime time on ABC...

No, that game would be on NBC.

There is probably some insider value in understanding how Pitt plays in primetime home games. Outside bettors will not share that confidence in Pitt on the surface, which is why I'm guessing the early money will come in on PSU. But I could be wrong... wouldn't be the first time.

Well, Pitt beat PSU 1 out of 2, beat Miami last year and Clemson the year before. Give Pitt 12 points and I am easily taking them.

Now, if it were Pitt against Bowling Green or Toledo... I'm not touching it.

No. I said that would be NBC. If we were playing ND week 2 this year, that game would be on NBC. Because it's a home game for ND. NBC gets ND home games.

Listen. I am not going to argue something stupid. Go back and look at the post you originally quoted. You are wrong in your response

No. The poster said if ND was matched up against Pitt, it would be in Prime Time on ABC.
Now ND actually is matched up against Pitt this year. Which is why the post is kind of odd. I have no idea what time that game will be. It might very well be in prime time. But that's because the game will be on NBC. Since it's a home game for ND. And NBC puts most ND home games on in prime time, regardless of the opponent.
Not to mention that the post doesn't make sense. I was responding to the poster taking a shot at those that want to get to an easier out of conference schedule to get more wins on the record. My argument was there aren't many big time teams we could schedule that would get us on in prime time. It would be noon or 3:30 beat downs like against Okie State last year.
The poster responded by pointing to ND...a team that has an independent contract with the ACC. Their games with the ACC are already locked in.
So Penn State won't schedule us. ND won't schedule us since they already have their schedule with us and the ACC laid out.

Our notre dame game is already set for a rare 230 eastern standard time start on NBC this year.

That poster was stating we have played notre dame at home to sell out crowds and those games have been on abc.

Both the Penn State and notre dame games should be good fun this year as I am pumped for both

The point I was responding to is a carryover from the debate that has been dominating multiple threads: what should we do with OOC scheduling? Go easier for wins? Keep it difficult and take the likely Ls until the program gets better?
The poster is clearly taking a shot with his "Bucknell" comment to those that want to go easier.
My response was that there aren't many OOC teams we can play that would give us prime time games, thereby justifying the Ls we would probably be taking with such a difficult OOC schedule. And that is absolutely correct. We are getting this Penn State game because it's Pitt-Penn State. I suppose ND could maybe be prime time ABC, but that's irrelevant to the point I was making with that original poster, because ND isn't a scheduling possibility.

a bit surprised it got picked for the 8p. The first 2 games tv ratings have only been average. Thought probably it would be Clem at A&M.
