Great news for the Pitt women softballers to join the dance for the first time. Awesome. Maybe Monica Wignot will be a surprise starter :).

Go Pitt.

Cal, Michigan in the bracket. Not easy, but congrats!

I view this as a fairly notable point in the progress of Pitt's overall athletic department. It is a definitive indication of the payoff of 1) new facilities 2) ACC money 3) ACC affiliation in a traditional warm weather sport.

Pitt is one of 7 ACC teams in the tournament. The ACC is a power conference in the sport, and it is highly notable that Pitt was the conference tournament runner-up. A break-out year in a Pitt sport with no previous notable history and which didn't record its first winning season (playing a much worse schedule) until 2006.
