Pitt to Military

I dont go to bowl games. I question anybody who spends a few grand for a stupid exhibition game. Pitt fans have their priorities straight.

That said, I probably will go to Annapolis.
I agree totally, I've never been to one, but there's a good chance I'll go to this one, it's an hour drive from my house, so gas money and price of the ticket, and I'm off work, perfect. I'm glad Pitt was disrespected and they sent the 7-5 teams to the "Tier 1" bowls! And for those that wanted a more challenging opponent, face it, Navy is a better football team, with a bigger football tradition than the likes of Indiana or Washington State.

After having a few adult beverages (Margaritas, Landsharks, etc.) and having some time to think about this I think:

-the game is a great one a ranked Navy team
- a stadium not hard to get to and is drivable for most people
But
-the bowl selection process and the way PITT was treated is a problem and in my mind a PR disaster that won't go away until next year this time if things work out better for PITT.

Not sure if it was the ACC and bowls who made the decision or PITT who volunteered either way its a PR problem

Just my opinion!

Barnes said #Pitt was down to Sun, Pinstripe and Military: “The Sun Bowl, the line in the sand there was, frankly, a win against Miami."
#Pitt AD Scott Barnes said he spoke a lot with Pinstripe: “Why they chose Duke, you’re going to have to ask them."

Who will be giving you a free ticket?

Why don't you and SMF stay home after reading both your posts.
I doubt PITT needs or wants either of you at the game or any other game for that matter.
PITT isn't that desparate!

Not sure, I might have to pay this time. But a free ticket is still not out of the question. The tickets aren't all "free" per se, I do have a source who I get tickets to Pitt sports from for free, but then I'll treat him to a Steelers ticket every year or so too.

"needs or wants", Who gives fcck about what Pitt "needs or wants"? I just go when I WANT TO, when it's convenient for ME, when it fits MY schedule. Jeez, some of you act like this is some religious ritual where you'll end up in "Pitt" of Hell if you don't go to "mass" at Heinz Field every Saturday! LOL! It's not that serious of a thing dude, get a life.

Pitt is lucky it has ANY fans at all with the stupid, cheap, moronic decisions and the resultant crappy product put on the field the past 30 years.
Spin it anyway you want CrazyPaco but this is a terrible result for a team that finished 8-4 and beat U of L by double digits and Duke and VT on the road. I would like to know how the ACC let us fall to a Tier II Bowl game? It's either pathetic treatment by the ACC or poor management by the Athletic Department - perhaps both. But yeah, follow the typical Pitt Administration party line : "It's the fans fault".
God you are mind numbingly dumb

What a profoundly dumb assertion. Buffoons like Nordenberg and Pedersen and their predecessors nearly killed Pitt FB with their incompetence and indifference. Pitt fans would have been brain dead to support either these idiots or the pathetic product they put on the field. Only idiots blame Pitt fans for the state of Pitt FB and attendance.
So what is the excuse this past year Del?

First off don't call me dude!
As I said I doubt PITT needs people like you!
Fyi I have a life!
Being a PITT fan is important to me and part of my wonderful life!
Get a life loser! And go away!

You kick people in the groin for 30 years and they take offense- simple as that. By the way, I go to home and away games.
Ok that's cool and admirable on your part but how long should Pitt Fan hold a grudge? Why should Barnes and Narduzzi, who has injected reel life into this program, feel the wrath of the past?

DUDE, DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDDDDDDDDDDEEEEEEEEEE!

Lol, being a Pitt fan is important to me too, I go to some games, I watch every game, but I go to games when it suits me and fits my schedule, wallet and my desire, going to every game doesn't make you a better fan, sorry, that's just the TRUTH.

Every individual is of course different. My honest opinion is that the Pitt admininistrstion has angered so many alums over the years because of their indifference/ incompetent management of athletics that they may never get some of them back or that a large percentage will require sustained success fromPitt before they do come back.

So what does that require Pitt to do? Pitt will very much have to rebuild its fan base starting with not only locals but every Pitt class which graduates- they will only succeed in this regard if they remain committed to FB and win. It's not an overnight process and it doesn't happen by fielding a decent team once every 5 years. It's going to take a lot of winning- just like what Jopa did at ups- they are the perfect example of how a university builds a fanbase . Once upon a time Beaver stadium held less than 50k people.

And by the way, I'm not looking to be patted on the back for sticking with Pitt but people like me are exceptions and I have experienced the frustrations borne out of Pitt's ineptitude which a large number of other long time fans have experienced and which have resulted in their simply swearing off Pitt FB forever.
