Pitt - Toledo Gamethread

That may be true, but, can he actually be worse than Lynch???

He absolutely could be worse. In fact it's probably likely that he is.

My guess is that if they bring him in it's going to be in the hopes that Toledo can't stop the read option, and Dugger can run it well enough to make them pay.

What does it say about the staff's ability to evaluate players, that a scholarship player doesn't get a look over a walk-on?

I think we all know.

This is perfect for my last Pitt athletics experience. This is a great microcosm of what the past 44 years has been. What a colossal waste of time. Good riddance .

Try basketball. That's where my energy is going now. If I'm going to be at a Pitt game, it will be basketball. Football is a perennial 6-6, 5-7, 7-5 team that isn't even as good as its record. And Narduzzi will give his usual nonsense and excuses after this loss. I know the game's not over and we may still win. But who the f%$k cares?

It's time to get ready for a 7-6 final record and 4-8 next year.

@ WVU... loss
ND... loss
@ FSU... loss
@ GT... loss
Louisville... loss
Miami... loss
BC... coin flip
NC State... coin flip (that might be generous)
@ Stanford... coin flip
@ Syracuse... coin flip

4-8 sounds about right, honestly.

They have two QBs on the roster other than Eli. Obviously neither of them have any business setting foot on a football field during a live game. But that’s all we have right now. What would you have the coaches do? Play Des Reid at QB?

How much does Pitt get for this game?

I don't understand how they watched these floating ducks for 3 weeks in practice and still rolled this guy out.
Do you not realize that he is literally the only QB left?

Dugger is a scout teamer with no snaps in our offense all season.

I don't want him to pass. I want him to run the read with Reid and put some pressure on their defensive ends. Only time he needs to pass is when they bludgeon them with the run and they pull their safeties up to help. Not saying it works, but, give it a try. Maybe it gives the whole team a lift. Or, maybe true to Pitt form, he will fumble it 3 times in a row at the mesh point!

I had to go back to 1998 to find a Pitt team that lost 6 in a row in a season. So HCPN will have that honor. At least in 1998 Walt Harris was still trying to recover the program from Majors 2. Not sure what Duzz’s excuse will be.

That will be impressive after logging the worst season in 26 years last year. But people don't want to talk about that side of Narduzzi's accomplishments.

Is Dugger even that fast? I remember being kind of underwhelmed with him, from a pure speed standpoint, when I watched him at Penn Hills. If any of you are thinking we're sitting on the next Michael Vick, I'd encourage you to think again. He's probably not much faster than Holstein, which means he'll have to rely on his arm to succeed at this level.

If this was the best we could put out there, we should have declined this bowl invitation. This a disgrace to the university, the fans, and football in general.

There’s no excuse to not put in another QB

None

There’s no excuse for starting him yo begin with but definitely no excuse now

Kenny Johnson was pretty open there if he plants and layers that over the safety. Instead, he needed to "see" him open, as opposed to anticipating it, and it caused him to hold onto the ball too long.
