Pitt Transfers

You might have to include Paris Ford after this year since it seems he will likely be way down on the depth chart for Pitt CB's. My guess is he'll transfer after this season to try to get playing time elsewhere.

Unless he has a really low opinion of PN and the coaches it would be stupid for him to transfer after his FR season. First he would end up sitting a year and assuming he is going to go to a P5 program he is going to have just as much competition to start at any of those places. Only way it makes sense is if he just hates the Pitt D and coaches or he is going to a lower level. How many p5 programs would even give him a ship at this point? Maybe WVU or a G5 school but I don't know if many P5 programs would.

Only one of those transfers I would like to see back is Tmac. He is very athletic for the QB position and I still think he could end up being a solid player. No one else is doing much even at lower levels.

I could see Ford as a "bandit" or "spur"(ugh) for WVU. He'd probably be somewhat decent in that sort of position. Hopefully he finds a place here. I don't view him as Pugh-like "always was overrated anyway" guy to the extent I've watched him.

Power 5 conf coaches don’t feel that way as Kansas is his only offer

Seems like he won't be back.

As I have stated in previous threads... I thought it was very uncool of Narduzzi to not even give MacVittie a chance to play in a game during a season that was already a bust and where the two QBs ahead of him were doing absolutely nothing to help the team. It was the perfect situation to rotate through to the next QB. Not playing him, especially after telling the media “Wait til you see him in a game,” was so unfair and down right offensive.

It’s tough enough for a kid to be given only 10 or so plays to prove that he is as good as his hype, but to go hard after a recruit and then lead that guy on when he gets there that he very possibly is going to be “the guy”... and then not even giving him one snap when you literally have the perfect “no risk” situation to try him out, well tha’s not just disappointing, it shows a lack of integrity, loyalty and class.

It also makes one wonder what the hell is going on with these coaches when they continually brag about certain players and then turn around and never (or very rarely) use them in a game.

Recruiting well doesn't mean just paying attention to rating services it means projecting whether a kid can play at the next level . When your a 3* program maybe the 4* kids you sign are because the better programs are taking a pass on them . When Pitt starts beating out schools like PSU , OSU & ND for some players that's when Pitt will field a competitive team that might draw the interest of fans .

Agreed. When you're Alabama it's still wrong to jerk players around, but at least they know it won't have ramifications. With a marginal program that struggles with recruiting, it's simply bad business to dick over your more high profile players
Macvittie warranted the opp you mention, and Paris Ford most definitely should have been tried out on offense in the Whitehead mode. Not even expecting miracles from either, but to show them (and future recruits) that the original commitment meant a lot and we're going to try whatever we have to to make you successful here somehow.

Unfortunately you have to perform better than the teammates in front of you to get on the field and he has not to this point. Still half the season left however.

No loss there. He’s not going to make any noise at the P5 level.

No loss this and that. Our beloved program missed something in their recruitment costing the program development of what should have been better targets for this program. This is an indictment of the evaluation process.

Yes this only happens at Pitt

True. We all want Briggs to sit but even if he is benched and Ford was moved to S he would not be next in line. Sure he has the talent but when you get out there you have to do something like Coleman has done the past 2 games with a strip and a big Pick. PPL should be complaining about a kid like Coleman not getting more PT cause he has done more in limited opportunities the past 2 games than Ford has done all year.

Why is everyone not making post after post for Coleman to play? What has Ford done to think he should play over Coleman? What u did or were rated in HS does not mean shi!t. It’s about ur game not ur name.

I coached in a famous HS BB tournament years ago in NY called “is8”. Its top high school basketball players in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Philly and around the country for that matter. Tons of former NBA players have played in this tournament. It’s a tiny little gym in Queens New York and basically the guy who runs the tournament says you will get exposed if u do not bring it. It does not matter if you’re a big-name you have to perform. That saying for the tournament is “Bring your game not your name” Fords HS name means nothing. Tell a walk on like Ashton that name guys should not have to earn PT...Ashton might whoop ur ass haha.

We saw the HS highlights and Ford has talent. But this is not HS. If what you did in HS got u PT we have lots of former highly ranked kids who should have played a lot but they sucked! PUGH was big time in HS but he sucks. Max Brown was ranked way higher than a kid like Ford but he sucked! Chris Clark was ranked higher but he sucks!

I don’t think Ford is like these kids but he has to prove it. If he is patient and works hard (as was posted he looked out of shape when working out with Sanders) maybe he will end up doing big things. He is only a freshman and has time so people need to relax. Maybe quit bitching on Twitter, keep your mouth shut and get to work.

I have been calling for Coleman to play more, but I'm just a fan, not on staff. I've been saying this for years. Football is not won by the team with better athletes. Football is won by the team with the most athletic football players. If you have to choose between the athlete vs the football player you pick the football player. Think Zeiss vs Capara.

Now all that said, Coleman is one of the most athletic football players we have. He needs to be on the field. I think Ford is like this too, but he is out of position and they are obviously coaching him in a way that concussed the young man. With that said I would pick Coleman over Ford.

I'll never be one to say a job should just be handed to anyone based on past pedigree. But it's just dumb not to explore all the possibilities, such as an offensive role. The offense is gruesome.

If they have attempted that as well and he wasn't effective or couldn't handle it, it would be smart business to leak that info. To avoid fan grumbling just like this. And assure other recruits that the staff isn't just jamming it's thumbs up it's rear.

But he stood out in all star games against the best in the country.

The 2A argument doesnt wash.
