Pitt v Utah volleyball

What were they in the Fall? 4-4? What a turnaround!

Take that Urban Meyer and Alex Smith!
Fish made some lineup changes in the spring, specifically he removed Popovic from the starting lineup. Teams were targeting her with their serves and she struggled with that.

Western Kentucky has also won the first two sets of their match.

Washington State won the 3rd set of their match, so it is still possible we will be the only unseeded team left after tonight.

UCLA gave BYU all they wanted in losing the first two sets, 26-24 and 31-29, but they need a big rally in the 3rd or they are done.

VVG, Nwokolo, and Lockwood have all been significantly better in the spring. I really wonder what Fisher saw in the fall with Popovic vs Browske. I've been pretty impressed by Browske in the spring. Her stats measure up well compared to Hillegas last season.

IMO, Pitt’s passing game was the best that I’ve seen from them this year. It set up so many kills.

I watched almost all of the GT-Minn match this evening and GT played very competitively. If Pitt can play like they did tonight, that will be a fun match.
I’ve watched Minnesota a few times this year. They are a strong team. Pitt will need to play like they did tonight to compete with the Gophers.

I was just looking at the numbers from that match. Minnesota won 3-0 but didn't crush them or anything, the sets were -19, -21, -18. That should give us some hope, because we are better than Georgia Tech.

I thought GT was pretty overrated this season based on playing a weak fall schedule. I expected them to get crushed by Minnesota but they kept it close in each set: 25-19, 25-21, 25-18.

I wonder why they are playing all of the sweet 16 games on Sunday instead of spreading them out and playing four games on Saturday and then four more on Sunday? That way they could just have one game going on at a time, instead of what now I assume will be two games in each time slot.

Let's just hope we don't get the damned 10:30 game time again!

Right. Pitt swept GT 25-19, 25-23, 25-19. Not that it means anything, but I have a lot more optimism than I would have expected.

I watched them beat PSU twice and Nebraska once, two historically solid programs.

i was a bit surprised by Utahs lineup. it was obvious that drews and #4 (Keiber?) were their only two offensive threats. Theit middles got few chances to swing and their second outside was noticeably less dangerous. Yet Utah had their best two hitters lines up next to each other in rotation instead of spreading the two out. each tine they were both in the back row, pitt went on a run. It was 14 14 when drews served in the last game. By the time she got to the front row Pitt was up 4 or 5 points and the damage was done.

ndee and Lockwood brought some heat today. Starks was also really good
