Pitt Players going up against a very experienced Offense and Defense after bushwhacking them at home last year makes it a very tough game to win. There are just 4 Sophomore Starters on this team, and the game is away at VT. Sorry can’t see a Pitt win this time even if we beat them last year?

Pitt and Virginia Tech last games have Pitt winning two of three, 35-17-2012, 21-16-2014, and losing 9-19-2013 so Pitt has handled and can compete against Beamer dating back to the Walt Harris Era! The rain will cause some problems for both teams and Pitt’s Pat & Staff has had 2 weeks to prepare for the hungry Hokies upset with an ECU loss. Coach Pat failed against Iowa's Ferentz so now we shall see how does against Beamer. Very tough call with so many Chaney's Pitt Offense Unknowns over injuries, QB snaps, Wideouts besides Boyd, Weather, and Chaney Game Plans, but I like where the Pitt Defense "WHITE-HEADng"! This the game introduce some Jordan Whitehead Offensive 5 to 8 Plays to help open up running and Boyd offset? Bottom line, if Pitt Coaches cannot figure out how to run in the rain it cannot win in the air in this game? Pitt could lose as they did against Iowa or Steelers last night, by a kick or less? Yet, even if my Head tells me to select the “Beamer’s Highlight Low Techs” I am going with Coach Pat & Staff surprising the Hokies at Home. I believe in Pitt’s Pat & Staff figuring it out when to throw to not 1 but 2 Big Tight Ends and run "Chad Voytik Running Vortex" if Peterman has a "Raining Day Game?" If Chaney waits too long to make such a change with “Peterman Rain” he may not be at Pitt next year if Pit loses another game it could win? The “Chryst -Sake”, "Wanny-Wanting" and "GraHAM-Scram Pitt Eras are either over or just continues to grow under another New Head Coach with a different name? Still, to Coach Pat credit, I see signs of improvements on Defense and Special Teams and we shall see on game day…..but True Intelligence Comes From the Heart. I am going with Coach Pat & Staff and PITT IS IT!

Once again, Kirk Ferentz is in his 17th year and has his staff and systems down as Coach Pat & Staff will be just in their third game? Pitt is going up against a Junior QB and that will not be easy. However, Pott matches up quite well against this team just like last year. There is mixture of sophomores and seniors with dabs of juniors. The problem for Pitt is may be playing 3 freshmen. There is an old coach adage for every freshmen that’s tarts expects to lose one game per freshmen as they learn the game by making mistakes. Yet, I sense the Pitt coaching Staff will take risks that Chryst was shy to take, so I am going with another close Pitt Win!

This game last season was a mirror between two same teams with the same talent. This year Pitt new head coach Pat Narduzzi & Staff has more talent but can they coach it to beat Iowa away? Kirk Ferentz is on the Hot Seat a tad at Iowa and needs more solid seasons he used to produce his first 10 years. He will have his Defense ready and Peterman and Chad Voytik both had two picks. If I was sure Coach Pat & Chaney would run Voytik, I would pick Pitt? Boyd, Orndoff & Holtz can catch and score and block. The Hawkeyes need to continue to win big and Beathard has pass for over 400 yards, 4 TD’s without any Interceptions? Even worse, Iowa is averaging over 230 yards per contest, but Defensively is allowing 15.5 points and over 270 yards per game. Boy, I know Pitt on Offense is really good and some Players returning for this game but James Conner is out? At the same time, Iowa is very physical at home and Pitt should win this game, but too many unknowns with New Coaching, New Game Plans, New Defense, New QBs, and New Players? Only if Iowa’s Defense struggles with young Linebackers can Pitt win? So, do I go with Coach pat & Staff showing they can beat a Vet Coach in the caliber of Ferentz, you bet you, my money in on Pitt!

Terry Bowden can coach and has many of his players back starting at Akron. Pitt Players will come in confident, looking for payback, and may have a new attitude but it still comes down to execution. The Facts are Akron will have more players ready to execute better than Pitt Players. Pitt coaches are learning too, unlike the Zip’s Bowden & Staff. Another close game for a not so easy season for any coach let alone a first year coach at Pitt.

I am still worried that Jim Chaney is misusing some Pitt Players on Offense. Why he is messing with QB Voytik's Head by using Peterman I have no idea. Why the Tight Ends are not used more. I don't know either. Both Holtz and Orndoff are NFL Tight Ends and Orndoff can throw the bomb? If Chaney runs Voytik it opens up everything even as Akron's Defense may stop the Pitt Running Game early? Still, I feel Pitt can score on the Akron Defense that is returning 6 Letterman and Boyd opens up the passing game. The Pitt Defense was good last year against Akron, it was the Offense that failed Pitt in 2014. Ollison, James, and Hall will run at will after the Second Quarter! The Pitt Defense will improve every game but still give up 21 points. The Akron QB has problems and can panic. Pitt Special Teams have to stop Akron's Special teams o limit them to 7 points! In any case, big improvements for Pitt on Offense, Defense, and Special Teams! Bowden Coaching Staff still has an edge being stable compared to Coach Pat & Staff still learning how to coach a complete Team. But Pitt puts the It on the Zips!

The big question is how OC Coach Chaney will run the Pitt Offense against the Penguins Bo Pelini’s Defense that has brought in many transfers. Pitt should be able to win by just running Conner, but stopping the run is exactly what Pelini will do at first and make Pitt pass to someone other than Boyd that will be on the DUI sidelines? If Chaney throws to Pitt Tight Ends, then Pitt can win a walk! If QB Voytik is allowed to run some plays, it will be a big win for Pitt. If not, it is a closer game than many will expect. YSU is pretty good in its Division and will be well coached by Pelini with Jim Tressel helping with advice to the Youngstown Boys against Pitt? Nevertheless, Coach Pat Narduzzi is a Youngstown Boy too, and we shall see how he holds his own against the University that hired and fired his father? Much depends on Chaney and we won’t know until we see his coaching of this Offense. Pitt Offensive Line will have new players on it too, and Pelini Defesne will exploit it, is my big worry if Chaney refuses to run Voytik? I will end on a brighter end note too...I expect at least 9 to 14 points from Special Teams from Pitt? If Chaney plays Whitehead on a few plays on Offense look for a big win again than I predict below?

Meaning it is up to Coach Pat & Staff to have his Players ready for them? I just don’t know since Coach this will be Coach Pat & Staff first game? I expect the Pitt Offense will score points and win a closer game than many expect.
