KenPom has them at preseason #27 -- had them #24 in the country at season's end.
Has Pitt #30, FWIW.
I would imagine G'town starts off in the Top 20-25 range. Smith-Rivera is pretty relevant nationally and people seem bullish on Isaac Copeland. Plus they brought in their typically solid freshman class to supplement things.
Gonzaga apparently struggled with Baylor and lost in their secret scrimmage. Gonzaga has elite bigs, but they replace their PG, SG and SF all who were really, really good last year.
Baylor #10 and Gonzaga #8 in KenPom's preseason, FWIW.
Sabonis, Karnowski, and Wiltjer will definitely test Pitt early. Gary Bell, Jr one of those guys who people keep expecting to break out.
I believe Bell graduated... as did the rest of their starting perimeter. He is not listed on their roster on their official site.
You are probably right. I looked on ESPN since they're right on my homepage (Pitt's one of my favorite/tracked teams, obviously). They have Gary Bell Jr. included on the roster (as a senior), but Damontas Sabonis omitted so that could be the mistake.
I sure hope that the NCAA has a sufficient staff to be able to make sure that any leaks of stats from scrimmages are dealt with appropriately. I think that double secret probation would be in order.I am sure stats were kept. But, I doubt they are publicly releasable since you cannot even publicly announce who the scrimmage opponent was.
That doesn't mean someone might not leak the stats to the blogosphere, of course. I expect Goodman is sitting on the details on a promise to the whoever leaked him info so he won't cause either team to run afoul of the NCAA.
Pitt has become very secretive on almost everything about the basketball program. Certain assistants used to talk a lot and often intentionally leaked information. Occasionally there may have been ulterior (internal politics) motivation behind some of the leaks. There were items quietly provided to people on the board to be unofficially distributed. Our board has no insiders. Not even a nibble on what happened.

I think maybe that means they can mention it, but not discuss actual results, other than broad generalities, which have been tweeted elsewhere already.Whether it is an 'oops' or not, the scrimmage is mentioned now on the official site:
