PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh men’s basketball team has announced the addition of a non-conference game against Northern Illinois Saturday, Dec. 5. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at the Petersen Events Center.
Pitt, 1-1 on the season, has three non-conference games remaining with home games against Northern Illinois (Dec. 5) and Gardiner-Webb (Dec. 12) and a road trip to Northwestern for an ACC/Big Ten Challenge contest Wednesday, Dec. 9.
Junior Au’Diese Toney has paced the Panthers early this season with a pair of 20-point games on 68 percent shooting from the field, while adding 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Xavier Johnson is averaging 18.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 9.0 assists per game, while Justin Champagnie is contributing 15.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game on the young season.
The Panthers are 1-0 all-time against Northern Illinois with a 59-50 win over the Huskies last season at the Petersen Events Center. Pitt held Northern Illinois to 20 points on 30.3 percent (9-of-30) shooting from the field in the second half of play in the game last December.
