I am basing this off of Coach JF's road record as an underdog. Though I am concerned we could get gashed by the run game.

41 -17 Pitt - Pitt has a bigtime day running the ball. The NEW Nitter QB is intercepted 3x's and spends most of the day avoiding PITT DL and blitzing LB's.
Damn. Not much faith here. I like Pitt to win an ugly one. I'll say 24-20.

Pitt's D-line will determine who wins this game. If they can contain Barkely and keep PSU in long yardage situations without having to blitz, Pitt likely wins. I don't think Pitt's offense is balanced enough to put up a ton of points, so if the game is in the 30's, PSU wins. A game in the teens and 20's is advantage Pitt.

Both fan bases want to win this game really badly to the point it hurts. It's very hard to be objective in this game and look at this game without homer glasses !
I played sports for a large portion of my life and that saying "any given Sunday is true " for most part in any sport. Either one of these teams are more than capable of winning this game !
With the youth on our team, the O Cordinator, D Cordinator and a new starting QB there are concerns. Christ last year we only had 7 scholarship O Lineman this year 19 I think but all very young.
Your fans ( Pitt fans ) and people on this board get so excited over a 4 star kid and immediately project him to be a stud. We have 4 star kids all up and down this roster.
The talent gap is there. Young talent does not always pay dividents immidietly !

Your QB lost Boyd I think he had 191 completions last year and 91 where to Boyd.
Boyd made a lot of clutch catche last year.
Trace Mcsorley is a good QB for our RPO system. Great athlete. Our offense finally got their shit together in 2nd half of Kent St game.
Love our new OC.
Not sure who has the advantage there but I like Trace better with 4.5 speed. Pitts QB will have to make plays this game.
O Line Pitt has a big advantage !
As far as the RB's go I can't imagine J Connor
being back to 100% no matter what he says ! Saquan Barkley is ridiculously talented.
I know some posters on your board said he is a joke and I just can't take those people serious. He was picked to be a breakout star in CFB for a reason.
WR's are nowhere near being close. We have few all B10 WR's. If you google top college football WR units you will see that some like fox sports have us in top 5 in all of CFB.
Pitt did not make the cut for top 50 and if you are honest with yourself are they anything more than FBS level WR's ? A Matthews will be good but a true freshman ? Is he on two deep depth chart ?

The secondary at PSU is easily the best we have had in 20 years if not more. It's actually easily the best part of our D it will let us play man Vs man a lot so we can load the box.
Our LB's are all really good. I think we have the advantage there as well.
D Line might me even after you guys lost D Hendrix. Another LB starter down last I heard he was in a walking boot. Also our Depth at D line I like better. You guys will have to sub a lot Vs our up tempo O so you will get a good look at your 2nd team this Saturday !
Thing about Pitt D is you guys struggled mightily against the spread and option O's.
Youngstown state scored 37 ? All the bigger teams on your schedule pretty much put up 30 points and 400 yards. How does navy get 600 yards ?
Pitt also let Navy score 44, ND 42, Louisville 34, G Tech 28, Miami 29 , Iowa 27, UNC 26.
You guys struggle big time Vs athletic spread teams.
I think PSU will win this one. I think 30 carries for 80 yards Vs Nova is bad. Really bad. I think Connor is nowhere near being back to his old self. Big time injury to the DL and starting LB.
I'm just not seeing how Pitt could win this one. But any given Saturday mind as well be the quote for CFB as well.
Despite my aggressive prediction of PITT winning 41-17 my one concern is Bewitt has a bad day since I see a lot of FG pts on Saturday.
Don't worry we have David Widewright joining the team next season which should fix things.

Pitt will put constant pressure on McSorley. Their OL will not be able to keep the pressure off. Barkley will get his yards, but it won't be enough. The Pitt DL will also win the battle up front as well. When it comes to coaching adjustments, the Pitt coaches are much better. I can't see PSU winning this one.

Experience tells me that the team with the better line and more experienced QB will win. Yes, Penn State does have more play makers, but they also have a QB who is only starting his second game and an offensive line that has not been good the past two years. Pitt does have playmakers, but like they too lack experience. A sound running game will take time off the clock as long as Canada calls a good game. When he passes on first downs, make them high percentage passes and stay out of third and long.
On defense, stop the run and pressure the QB on third and long.
As long as Pitt's coaching staff doesn't try to over coach or get too cute, Pitt should have no problem.

Seriously, guys? We're going to talk all this smack leading up to the game and then half of our posters pick against us? C'mon! PSU's offensive line sucks and Franklin is an absolutely AWFUL in-game coach. Narduzzi is going to be dialing up the most confusing packages those guys have ever seen. Our offense may not be high-powered but we'll be able to shove it down their lackluster dline's throat. Pitt 24-9 in a game that really isn't ever really close.
No bud we had 2 TD's and 1 FG's and one INT for a TD return so yeah we got it together in 2nd half.

I could not remember correctly. Offense was having a tough time at first. But the flow of the game in 2nd half was better we completed 3rd downs. You had to watch the game to understand.
Both teams will be better this week.

Kent State I guess has 2 CB's going to NFL. They played hell of a game against us on D !

Franklin does not call plays on Offense or Deffense. We are slowly coming back up after getting dismanteld by sanctions.

Maybe they did? I didn't watch aside from the defensive TD. But, after a nice pick six by the PSU D to start the 2nd half, PSU scored a single TD with under 2 minutes to go in the game. PSU also had drive earlier 3rd quarter that resulted in a short FG. You made it seem as if the offense was dominant in the 2nd half. It was not.
Neither Pitt nor PSU looked very sharp in their initial games. Hopefully they both play much better this Saturday.
I agree ! It was more of the eye test ! You know what I mean.
They had a nice drive that ended with a fumble on 4 and 1 with a bad QB RB exchange.

Uhhh PITT does not need another stadium. Heinz is 4 miles from campus and owned by Allegheny County and Sport Authority. Guess who the largest employer is in Allegheny County? Guess who the 3rd largest employer is? The answers are UPMC and PITT! The facilities on the southside are 1/2 Steelers and 1/2 PITT. Do a little research and come back!

Temple beat us for the very first time since like WW1. Temple also was a very very good team last year.
We got a new OC for a reason. Our offense was like Chinese fire dril last year. I also think Hackenberg was one of the most overrated players ever but he did get sacked 15 times in that game it was something ridiculous !
