Pitt wins secret scrimmage over Georgetown 78-64, Scrimmage Highlights

Like I posted above, apples/oranges. The point is Lowe is a freshman,
and will more than likely supercede Brad's not so hot Frosh yr. Yes,
Brad improved somewhat his second yr. However, as another poster
above pointed out, he didn't really come on until he was a Jr. when
he didpost some much better #'rs. I do think Jaland can come cloe to
Brad's Soph #'rs as a Frosh. But let's remember, he's still is a frosh.

I think we are saying the same thing just in different ways. Im more concerned with Lowe's efficiency ratings which is going to be correlated with his shooting percentages and turnover rate on offense. Lowe's going to put numbers on the board, I wouldn't worry about that at all and he is going to contribute in multiple areas just like all the other guards we are talking about in this thread.. Its how efficient he is at doing it. We dont want Trey Mcgowens level efficiency. We need much better than that.

Ok, I can go with the "efficiency" aspect of your explanation. If
he can effectively play the point and get his team mates in the
flow I'll be happy. His Assist to TO ratio results will more than
likely determine how successful he'll be or not be this year. On
paper he looks good. As for Brad, he did very little as a Frosh,
did improve somewhat as a Soph, and became a "player" as a
Junior. I'm hoping for a much faster upward curve for Lowe.

Vader, if you're going to say you'd be "estatic this year, if Lowe is remotely
close to this"...then use Brad's FRESHMAN year stats, not his SOPH. yr. He
averaged 2.2 pts, was 32% from the field, and a dismal 48% Ft's. and a not
so great 1.4 assists, and 1.2 total rebounds. Those are his FROSH stats. I'll
be disappointed if Jaland Lowe mirrors Brad's Frosh yr. stats. You did an
apples / oranges comparison on this one. Come on, you know better.
Seemed like an appropriate comparison to me. After Lowe gets compared to Brad, multiple posters replied saying Brad wasn’t any good til his Jr year. Vader comes back saying he’d be happy if Lowe put up results as good as Brad’s sophomore year. That’s a good comeback to those saying Brad wasn’t any good until Jr year and I’ll also agree, it will be good if Lowe can match those sophomore stats of Brad’s which others apparently thought weren’t any good.

I think Lowe’s gonna play 20-25 or so minutes a game. We’ve ultimately got 80 minutes at the 1 and 2 to divide between 3.5 players (Bub, Lowe, Leggett, and some combination of Hueitt, and Jeffress, Barnes or Austin playing a few spot minutes at the 2 here and there).

If you’re playing 20-25 minutes, I’d certainly hope that you’d be at around 6-8 points a game, especially as a backcourt piece with a shot tool that at least looks playable.

The opening day starting 5 is looking likely to be Carrington-Ish-Austin-Hinson-Fede unless something significant happens beforehand.

Given we have been talking a lot about the backcourt in this thread, Im thinking Ish is going to be playing around 33 minutes per game. Our staff, including Jeff Capel, appear to be pretty high on Ish based off what has taken place so far and that includes today. Might not mean much considering Capel also boasted about Horton from practice reports. I am quite high on Ish myself as a college player and what he can do here.

There's been pretty good reviews coming out regarding Fede as well, with improvement made on both ends of the floor, with his footwork, and with getting 100% healthy. Some of that was reiterated again by Jeff Capel at media day, and Capel has mentioned this in multiple interviews regarding Fede. I hope Fede has made considerable improvement rebounding the basketball on the defensive end.

Obviously when the lights go on and the real games start it will determine how much each player plays. Capel said he was quite surprised just how good Hinson was last year. I think we all were. He said no one was expecting that from the preseason. So things can change, lineups can change, playing time can change, when the real games start and some players step up while others don't.

Chemistry on our team, from the early going, appears to be good thus far.

I do think that will be the starting 5, with Lowe, Jeffress and the twins as the 4 off the bench.

I think it’ll basically be a situation where it’s Carrington, Leggett, Austin, Hinson and Fede as the starting five. Lowe comes off the bench for whoever between Carrington and Leggett needs a breather, Jeffress and Jorge come off the bench for whoever between Austin and Blake need a breather (maybe matchup dependent - there’s a lot they can do with the 3/4), and Guillermo comes off the bench for Fede.

Honestly, it’s not a bad 9 man rotation. Things start to get dicey, though, if any of those guys becomes unavailable for any kind of multi-game span. Like, you can probably skate by with Hueitt playing extended minutes for a game, or throwing Barnes in there if you start to get thin on the wing. But if you’re looking at either of those guys playing extended minutes for multiple consecutive games, that’s probably not where they want to be.
