Pitt won by 4 points by outscoring UNC Wilmington by 8 in the 4th quarter.

Sophomore Judkins starting to show up nice in the box score. Scored 16 on 8 for 11 shooting with 7 rebounds and 3 blocks.

Pitt was carried by Judkins, Walsh, and Nelson who went 17 for 29. They got no offensive help from Whitney, Bradley, and Knight, who went 0 for 13.

Going to be another long season, but the emergence of Judkins as a somewhat capable post player would be a welcome development...

Go Pitt.

I watched it. They won with hustle, and not giving up when falling behind.
Similar to the men's team, they're going to struggle in the ACC. They will
win a few games because there are a few other weak teams. They might
have a little easier road ahead than the men, but there's a major gap
talent wise between them and most of the ACC teams.
Also like the men's program, they have a coach who is getting everything
he can out of a group of players with limited talent. Again like the men,
they would win if they were in a lesser conference.

Just watching the highlights, I was pleasantly surprised by the buckets that Soph. Cara Judkins made and by how much quicker and more assertive she looks versus when I saw her previously.

Cara seems to be transforming into at least a very useful player, and maybe more... I was quite skeptical of her when I saw her last season and early this season. Credit to her and the Pitt coaches.

Go Pitt.

Not every night will be a great shooting night for everyone. Basketball is a team effort, not an individual. Yes, it is great when everyone contributes points, however, that's not an everyday reality for any team. It's obvious that the more shots a player put up eventually the greater chance to increase their points value. Actually, Whitney and others contributed in other ways. To be exact Whitney had 7 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1 steal. So IMO her contributions in these areas contributed to her teammates' offenses.

Good point about the other stats for Whitney. And Bradley is about Pitt’s most athletic player and seems to be a good defender.

I pointed out the shooting because it had to have been maddening for Coach Suzie and now Coach White to witness the extreme shooting inconsistencies of these two players. I realize that players have good and poor shooting nights, but players like Bradley and Whitney just seem to be especially prone to all or nothing in the shooting department...

Go Pitt.

I get the point you're making and somewhat agree. I was simply pointing out contributions come differently.

Bradley is a very good on ball defender. Her length gives lots of opponents problems. If she could just shoot the basketball. (Oops, probably shouldn't have said that)

I didn't go last night, did anyone who was there or who watched on line see if Alayna Gribble was at least on the bench last night? For her to not even be dressing and sitting on the bench a month after her injury would be very concerning indeed.

It's been reported that Gribble has a concussion.

Yeah, she fell/got knocked over and smacked the back of her head off the court in the Georgetown game. That game was 30 days ago. If 30 days after sustaining a concussion she is still having so many problems that she can even sit on the bench during the game then it would seem to me like that's a really big deal.

She had a bad concussion last season as well. It could be bad.

I remember when a family member had 2 bad concussions in about the span of a year. After the second, he had a sensitivity to light that was unreal. He ended up having to drop out of college due to the massive headaches. He seems back to 100 pct. now but it took almost a year of therapy. The good news is that UPMC doctors, therapists and researchers helped him immensely and they are doing great things here.

I dont remember if she was on the bench, but during warmups pregame, she was sitting in the VIP chairs with the also-injured Bugg and Rodriguez

Thanks. That's at least a positive step. Hopefully I'll go down tomorrow and I can see these things for myself.
