They’re in trouble against Pepperdine. Down 2-1. It would be a big upset for the waves.
Panthers won the 4th game, then broke a 14 all tie to win the 5th and deciding set 16-14. Match just ended at 1:20 AM Pittsburgh time. 10-0 and a H-and-H with the #4 Nits next weekend
Great fight back to preserve the unbeaten season. 10-0.
I watched the Pepperdine match that was being broadcasted live on the internet.
Pitt never had a lead in the second and the third sets. That was due to a combination of Pepperdine playing inspired volleyball and Pitt just not as sharp as usual. Frankly, the girls looked tired, but their competitive instincts wouldn't let them quit.
Coach Dan then made a key tactical move, he inserted a second setter into the lineup. That seemed to have a positive effect, though Pepperdine continued to confidently give the Panthers all that they could handle.
Pitt could have lost the match in the 4th set and in the 5th set. The momentum was still with Pepperdine.
However, the Panthers' will to win prevailed and undefeated they remain!
