Have been thinking this myself, but talked to a former coach this AM. He is not a Pitt fan or a Pitt hater. Congratulated me for Pitt yesterday. asked him what he thought. He said defense looked good and Pitt was well-prepared for the option, but gave up too much on the pitches and QB keepers, especially 2nd half. Said we should be worried about the offense. Not much verticality. Is it slow WRs or conservative OC? What will Pitt do if running game is shut down? Not many throws to middle or deep. Pickett has a good arm, but Pitt needs to add the threat of a vertical passing game. College football today is to stretch vertically and horizontally and get playmakers in open space. I hope Watson and Narduzzi add that to their gameplan for every game. Too conservative for my taste. Happy for good start in ACC. NC game is a must, especially after last 2 years.
