would you please tell me about parking at station square, and taking boat from there to game. estimated parking costs- boat over costs, and travel times coming and going pre and post game. thank you in advance.

5 bucks per person. 10 bucks round trip. Give yourself a good 45 minutes for trip. Parking is cheap. Good way to go if you have the time.

I think it's completely overrated (probably b/c I work down here so think all of it sucks). It's 10 RT per person on the Clipper. The parking I think is another 10. So a car of 4, you are looking at 50 on parking/transportation to the game. The restaurants over at Station Square are average at best so there isn't much advantage in that regard. The boat is probably a 30 minute round trip ordeal when you factor in wait time. It's actually not bad in that regard. 12 oz cans of beer cost 5 dollars.

I honestly see no benefit to Station Square on gameday. If you want cheap, park on First Ave for 5 bucks and take the T over for free (although this may go away). Parking on the north shore can be had for under 20 bucks for every non-big game.

I often steer out-of-town visitors to park at Station Square. Why? The novelty factor. I can't think of any other place where you ride a boat to a college football game. And it minimizes the visitors' experience of having to negotiate the confusing streets of downtown Pittsburgh.

And while the restaurants in Station Square aren't the greatest, they're decent - and it's nice to have a sit-down meal where you don't have to walk or drive far. This is especially true after you've sat in the sun all day or on a cold weather day.

Many people overlook parking in the Post-Gazette building and walking across to the stadium.
There always are spaces and I can be out of the game, across the bridge, in my car and home long before many of my South Hills neighbors.
The PG building also is cheap compared to almost anything else that provides a quick out after a game.

If you live on the south hills and if you have young children....it's the best , if you're not looking for that tailgating experience

You can BYOB it on the clipper. You can bring a cooler on if you want. Restaurants are better in station square than your cookie cutter sports bars on north shore. I'd rather drink church wine out of a paper bag under a bridge than go into bettis' bar and grille.

Here is what I do:

I have two small children so we are not currently among those interested in the tailgating seen.

I bought a year pass to the Carnegie museums and we use it very often throughout the year (particularly in the spring). I think it cost me $100 or something like that.

As an aside, we really are lucky to have the museums we have in this region and a year pass is a great deal for a young family with or without the added benefit of cheaper parking on Pitt football Saturdays.

On Pitt game days, we go down about an hour or so before the start of the football game and we park in the Carnegie Science Center lot for about $3.

We take the kids into the CSC for about 30–45 minutes and then we head over to the football game.

Win-win!

Not a fan of Bettis'? I think it's the only bar over there worth a damn. The food is rather average but the prices are usually okay. I think they always have a $3 draft special.

My favorite thing about Bettis'...the TV's. Maybe it's just me, but I CAN'T stand going into a sports bar where no one knows the channels of games, or they make you wait 30 minutes before turning it on. I like how they label every TV with what games are going to be on.

I park by the jail for five bucks and it is the first free stop on the t. So u are pretty much assured to have a seat. The closer u wait until game time the tougher it is to get one. U have the option of getting off by pnc park if u are attending a tailgate or going directly to the stadium.
