I think the University is either @ your second one (from the top) or your 3rd one.

I chose that he is personally (for me) on the hot seat & need to step up his game a lot and get better recruits...

Go Pitt

I'd prefer he'd go back to his roots recruiting, getting tough as nails recruits with chips on their shoulders who can defend. Which I think he's doing.

True... But he can also get elite talents (like Kithcart) that are very skilled offensively & will play hard & defend crazy.

He does need to recruit some "shut down" defenders tho who you can put in to make the opposing teams life miserable.

All in all, things need to get better. Preferably sooner rather than later.

Go Pitt...

I know Kithcart is doing well, but isn't calling him an elite recruit a little much? By the way, my favorite part about his scouting report is that he's tough and can defend, along with his ability to score and distribute.

And hell, we don't even need lockdown defenders, just players who care about defending. Talib and Lamar's senior year there was no great individual defender but the team as a whole knew what was what on that end.

I don't necessarily disagree. Recruiting seems to be on the upswing. I'm just not a - "if Jamie leaves we go back to the mid-90s" guy. This year is better than last. Let's see.

Yea... I'm not one to defend Jamie at all, but it looks like he's at least doing somewhat better at recruiting.

Yeah... Maybe calling him elite was a "little too much" But, for a Pitt recruit of recent, he definitely would be considered that to us.

We'll see soon enough if the Pitt hoops ship sinks or swims. Hopefully, it can stay afloat & at least make the Tourney this year. But, we will see.

Despite the unholy abomination that was unleashed upon us this evening, I still think this is a tournament team, albeit not a very good seed. I'm not sure next year will be significantly better either, even if both Young and Artis come back (which I expect them too). I think our offense is reliant on too many piss-poor defenders, so if we want to score we need to concede that we will play poor defense too. Not that we have any elite defenders sitting on the bench either.

Is getting eliminated in the 1st round a successful season? Who wants to see another repeat performance of a game like Louisville or NC State.

The game has changed. The rules have changed. Old big-east, Jamie Dixon basketball is dead. We need actual athletes now.
If this team was in the old Big East, we would be in last place. This is nothing like an old BE team. I WISH we have a few players from our old BE games.

Interested to see where people are
The 3rd choice is, Jamie took us pretty far? Really? in 12 years this being his 13th year, the furthest we ever made was it to the elite 8 one time, 9 or 10 NCAA tourney appearances lots of one and done even last year in the nit one and done, and you think that was taking us far? WOW, his first 6 or 7 years here was great, but since?

I rather be in the tournament than not.
You have a 0.00% of advancing if you're not in the dance.
Souf, you constantly counter anyone or any post with even the hint of criticism to Jamie and Pitt BB.

So....what is your opinion? Where do you stand? It is obvious not a black and white issue, but there are definite shades of gray. Oh an by the way, I am back on the fire Bill Barton wagon. Just because it is the right thing to do.

If I thought we could attract a rock-star coach, I wouldn't mind a change.
I don't.
Dixon has earned a long leash with his performance over a long stretch of time. We started back sliding when the AD started meddling with Dixon's staff, which I don't think is a coincidence.

The wheels would have to come off completely for a couple years in a row for a change to actually be forced.

To answer your question....I think Dixon is about the best was can do, he's a rock solid human being and a great representative for Pitt...so, we're going to have to play out this string the next 3-4 years before considering options.

There is an impressive graphic about the percentage of weeks Pitt has been ranked in the Top 25 all time, and Dixon owns a large chunk of that pie. Sometimes we take for granted what we have when things aren't going as well.

Fair enough. It is a concern. Boston College thought it would be better without Al Skinner, we have seen Wake go down after Prosser died, GT has never recaptured magic after it got rid of Hewitt.

By the way, I voted for option 3, which I think is most prudent.

Pretty telling even on here with a lot of Jamie lovers that out of 95 people who voted, only 7 chose option 1 - Jamie will get us there.

Could not agree more. IMO things would get way worse if Dixon left. Do we want to risk going back to the 90s? Ithink Jamie will get us there, but I don't know who will be patient enough to wait if it's not very soon. Personally I also think his recruiting is at a personal best. Damon Wilson I think will be a big-time program changing player. Kithcart is another big-time recruit. Even Manigault should be pretty solid and with the lack of centers on the roster this year, I think there's a good chance people will be surprised when Nix finally hits the court next season. I thought he was awful last night, just flat out terrible. Really his coaching just made the game even worse. But I think this team is incredibly talented and deep. It's not all him, you count on your best players to show up and play. They were awful, there's only so much a coach can do.

Things might get even better with a new coach, you don't know until you make the change, Dixon is responsible for this roster, his staff can't recruit, what do we have to look forward to in the next couple of years, ok so far we have Kithcart, a point guard, Manigualt, a forward, Clark, a shooting guard and Nix a center Clark and Manigualt are 3 stars not considered elite players, but aside from that they will be freshmen next year and you can't redshirt them because we need them right away unless we take in 3 - 4 or even 5, 1 year grad transfers

No, it is not "stupid" choices. Your constant criticism of anyone who dares to criticize is getting boring and a bit pathetic.
And your pomposity has ALWAYS been boring. Your opinion changes after every game, it seems. Clueless.

We only have room for 1 more player next year, assuming no one leaves in a surprise.

OR:

Even after an embarrassing home loss to a last place team..... 64% of the respondents want to keep Jamie Dixon for at least a few more years.

Not really. I would never pick that option. One team out of 350+ win it. There are a number of coaches were retired being considered very good coaches, who did not win a championship. I don't have any idea if ANY coach would guarantee us a championship. Do you?

If something were to happen - Archie Miller would be a good, realistic choice.
