Pitt is #33 in the new Coaches Poll.

#32 is Oregon, who appeared in last year's championship game and was preseason #5.
#31 is Northwestern, the only team to beat #8 Stanford.
#30 is BYU, whose only losses are @UCLA & @Michigan, both back in September
#29 is USC, the only team to beat #14 Utah (who's beaten Michigan, Oregon, & Cal)
#28 is Duke, who is 1 insane return (w/ a knee down on 1 of the laterals) from being top-20
#27 is Navy, whose only loss was @ND
#26 is Wisconsin, whose only losses are to Bama & Iowa (15-1 total)

Not only that, UNC beats us and immediately jumps higher in the rankings than where we were -- not a great consolation, but that is respect. If your immediate reaction is to poo-poo all of the teams listed here, say we have no good wins, say we're probably going to lose our next 2 and at least 1 of the last 2 so we'll be lucky to top 7 wins even with the bowl, please go to one of the numerous other threads that share your SOP opinions.

Plus Ped State rolled a Big10 team with a winning record (entering the contest) to improve to 7-2, a better record than Pitt, and we STILL remain ahead of them in the rankings. That's respect. Respect in the long-run gets you better recruiting classes, better preseason rankings, and the ability to drop less in the polls after a loss.

Plus Ped State absolutely rolled a Big10 team with a winning record (entering the contest) to improve to 7-2, a better record than Pitt, and we STILL remain ahead of them in the rankings.
I would be hitting the recruiting trail hard this week. I'd be pointing out the fact Penn State just crushed an awful team and still is not noticed because well, they play awful teams.

Let's just beat Notre Dame this Saturday and we'll be 21st or 20th imo.

Agree completely. After a few weeks of lackluster play, the PITT DL gets a chance to make some plays against an OL that Temple was able to disrupt with regularity.

Chaney also needs to stick with what is working. If ND had trouble stopping Ollison, keep him in the game and run plays off of him.
